TurboTax says I have a W-2c coming because I deferred some Social Security taxes last year. My W-2 for 2019 and 2020 show that I paid the 6.2% tax on my SS wages. Help!

It is supposedly a "helpful" notice (which may not be helpful) , and does not change, or stop your filing of taxes in any way.

It is likely just a calculation  screw-up in the software ...that does not affect your taxes in any way.   (a bug introduced in Wed night's update...One TTX Rep said they'll fix that by the end of next week)

Just edit each W-2 you entered, and make sure box 4 is entered to be the same number as on your paper/PDF W-2 from that employer.  If box 4 is 6.2% of box 3...then nothing is wrong, and ignore that notice entirely.

(unless box 4 is significantly lower than 6.2% of box 3...then the notice is valid...but it is just a reminder/"Notice" and you can still file without doing anything else)

Employer W-2 forms are rounding the amounts.  If you take box 3 and multiply by 6.2% you'll probably find that the decimals exceed the 2 places.  Most systems will round up or down, however Turbo Tax system is not and this is causing the message that you will be receiving a W-2c.

Hopefully, Turbo Tax and their experts will correct this problem.

The S.S. withholding amounts on both my and my wife's W2's come out to the penny with no rounding and we are still getting the message.  One of our W2's hit the annual cap so maybe they are figuring from box 5 (Medicare wages) instead of box 3 or maybe they introduced some other calculation error but it isn't a rounding error, at least not in our case.
