Thank you. I appreciate the advice. I too will add it to my TT for Dummies cribsheet
What a joke. This is a big miss for Turbo Tax. Anyone with suggestions on better software? TaxAct?
This is stupid. I shouldn't have to call and spend 15 minutes to get my one single opinion to Turbo Tax on a glaring issue they rolled out this year that nearly everyone hates.
I can highly recommend H&R Block's tax app. I had been a loyal Turbo Tax customer for decades. But last year, when they dumped this mess on us, I was desperate for a solution and immediately switched to H&R Block. So glad I did!
I'm still completely baffled at how this software "improvement" passed through what should have been multiple levels of testing and approvals. I'm just glad that I was able to quickly find an alternative.
Best of luck to you!
I moved to freetaxusa.com, best decision I've made.
Very frustrating, Turbo Tax. This is one of the reasons I liked using your software, to see how my choices affected my return. I might as well just hand over everything to an accountant in the future.
It seems like everyone keeps commenting on this without reading through the other posts. Another user and myself explained how to make this work (at least through the web version). Go to Federal Review, go through the screens until the end eve if you aren’t ready to file yet and the ticker will come back. Then exit out of the review and continue with your taxes and the ticker will remain.
I also mentioned suggesting you pay for your tax software now (again, even if you aren’t ready to file). As soon as you pay TT will allow you to print by out fully filled out 1040 and all subsequent forms through print center based on the info you have completed thus far. I use this feature especially when the ticker doesn’t adjust how I believe it should as I enter info. It helps you see exactly how your forms are being filled out and allows you to catch a mistake more easily.
Nope, didn't work for me. Ticker never came up. Went through the "Federal Review" all the way until it started wanting to start my state taxes.
Here is a FAQ: Why don’t I see the tracker that shows my refund or taxes owed?
This is the worst thing TurboTax has done in over a decade. For those of us who owe taxes, we like to see the amount go down as we input deductions. The "click review" recommendation doesn't work. All that does is show what steps I still have to complete, but it does not display any amount owed.
I second that
Yeah I’m all set. This was my last year. that’s a critical that some people need for business
Agreed this was the best feature of the whole system. Guess ill be going back to HRB...great move Turbo Tax, great move!
I am on a Mac and was not seeing the meter while using Safari. I switched from safari to Firefox, then went thru the Federal Review and the meter appeared on Firefox AND now its on Safari!
On a side note, I feel like the user experience has gone downhill the last couple years. There are more clicks required now to do what used to be quicker, why does the left side bar menu keep collapsing every time I log back in until I select a tax topic? Even the login is more annoying, I am forced into a double login request every time I want to get into my taxes.
I finally got to see the refund amount, but now it wants me to pay. I went back to 'review' (I'm still waiting for a few 1099s) and the ticker isn't there. I guess maybe I'll try H & R instead and see how that goes.
