Critter-3, does the online version have the functionality of TurboTax Premiere for investments? Plus ability to link to banks/brokerages? On the TT website it's difficult to understand what capabilities the online cloud version has. This would be great!
@KMMBoston34 The TurboTax online Premium edition will support investment sales the same as the Premier desktop edition. The edition also supports importing of Form 1099's from financial institutions and brokerages.
Go to this TurboTax website for Premium online edition - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/online/premium/
evamac,
Your iMac is newer than mine. Mine is an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, late 2014) Turbotax 2023 will not run on macOS BigSur 11.7.10 and I can't update past BigSur. I was able to run Turbotax 2022 Premier last year.
I have a MacBook Pro that is running Ventura and it should run Turbotax 2023. I'm waiting to receive all my 1099s before I install it.
Glad to see that you are able to run Turbotax 2023 on an external disk drive. I'd run Disk Utility and see if it can repair your internal drive. Looks like you are running fine by booting to your external hard drive. I suggest you keep Time Machine backups current.
My iMac is ten years old and is still running very well. I've had some good Apple Support, even after Apple Care ran out. I really like the 27" monitor. I'll probably have to replace this computer in the near future, but today it is running "like a top". Love the 27" 5K screen and I'm also running two 24" monitors.
I am still wondering why Turbotax 2023 can't run on it. It must require something not found in BigSur. Most other software still works on my iMac.

how did you return to Amazon?I can't find anywhere that i can click to return
Very disappointing. There is no true technical reason for a simple tax calculation app to drop support for macOS 11. The developers go the easy route with only supporting the latest macOS systems. I will not buy a new computer just to do taxes. How come every other major software does run with macOS 11. We are not pushing the system limits with an app like Turbotax.
Oh well. Turbotax just lost a customer. Don't forget that Turbotax online has other conditions in terms of data privacy.
I have the same issue and I'm disappointed with TurboTax, which I've used for almost 20 years.
I have a 9-year old MacBook Pro that works great for everything I need...but won't run TT2023! I don't want to use any company's on-line tax software, and I don't want to buy a new computer just for tax prep. So it seems this year I will need to stop using TT, and I will likely switch to HR Block.
HR Block's Deluxe downloadable edition seems to only cost $49, allows the same number of filings (including State) as TT Deluxe, and it supports Mac OS as far back as 10.15. I read reviews saying that TT is slightly more user-friendly, but TT doesn't seem so committed to supporting customers of their downloadable products.
I am running Ventura 13.2.1 on an iMac desk top and TT is not working correctly (20 year user);
bought TT CD from Sam’s Club & once loaded TT is asking for payment? Will not complete my
taxes unless I pay “again.” Will return CD to Sam’s and download H&R Block S/W. TT/Intuit/ all
of their software does not play well on Apple products.
This is a followup to my previous message. Since TT 2023 download has stopped supporting my MacBook Pro that runs Big Sur, I went ahead and purchased HR Block. HR Block "Deluxe + State" download edition only cost $25 on Amazon and allows 5 Federal filings and one State, just like TT Deluxe. Block downloaded and installed easily, and easily imported my TT data from last year. So far I've done the Federal portion and started the State. The interface seems very similar to TT. Block might do slightly less "hand-holding" compared to TT, but it seems that making the switch is not difficult at all. And since it supports Macs as far back as OS 10.15, I feel pretty confident that HR Block will continue to support Big Sur next year and beyond.
I agree with other posters who said that there may be no technical reason for TT to "un-support" a batch of their Mac Download users each year. I suspect they want to move existing Download customers to their on-line version, which might be more profitable. But by doing that, they seem to be losing those Download customers like me who prefer not to have their tax return data stored on-line on Intuit's (or any company's) servers.
I am running MacOS Monterey 12.7.2 but I can't get it to run either.
I use TurboTax Premier every year and have never had this problem before. The download is called TurboTax 2023.app.zip. After I download it and click on the application icon I get the message The application “TurboTax 2023” can’t be opened.
Any suggestions?

Where did you get the TurboTax file? From the Apple store or directly from the TurboTax website - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/cd-download/
From Amazon

I am not that familiar with Mac systems, I use Windows. The installation file I get for the TurboTax Windows installation file is a .exe file. I do know that the executable Mac files are a .dmg file. What you received from Amazon does not look correct. Contact the vendor you used for the Mac download from Amazon to make sure you received the correct 2023 TurboTax installation file for Mac
i agree - very frustrating!!!!! I have the same issue but not sure if this is an Intuit issue or Apple issue to get you to upgrade your computer. Several apps that I've tried to download require 12.0 ......I guess it's time for a new laptop. :(
I had the same problem. I paid for the download which did not work so I had to pay AGAIN to complete our tax returns online. Still seeking a refund of $76.for thr download.
If you're not completely satisfied with TurboTax Desktop, go to refundrequest.intuit.com within 60 days of purchase and follow the process listed to submit a refund request. You must return this product using your license code or order number and dated receipt. See here for more guarantee information.
The minimum system requirement to run the 2023 version of TurboTax is:
macOS Monterey 12 or later. See here for more information.
