I am using TurboTax Premier 2022 Desktop (download). I see that I can install it on multiple computers (3 or 5). My question is, can I operate on the SAME tax file across the multiple computers? If I put the tax file in Google Drive (or dropbox), then will opening it up on a second computer, working on it, closing it, then later coming back to the first computer to finish it up. Is that going to screw it up? Of course, I will only have it open on one computer at a time. Just want to double check so I don't screw up this file.

That will work. Until you have saved a particular tax file from within TurboTax on a particular computer, it won't appear in TurboTax's list of tax files you've worked on on that computer, so you'll have to open it by browsing to the file location in the Dropbox folder. As a precaution, though, you might want to occasionally make a backup copy of the file, but that's probably good practice even when using only a single computer.

Thank you for your answer. Now I wonder. If I have 2 state software downloads (one free with program and one paid) , would both of those also get installed on the second computer? I wonder if the states are tied to the activation codes. I guess I'll find out soon enough. Hopefully they got that worked out.
You would have to download the paid state to the other computer and install it. You might have to start a fake return so you can get the state program before opening a return that includes that state.
