that carat is not there
This was a way beyond stupid and extremely unhelpful change that makes me much less likely to use Turbotax again. This feature was loved by many and it is mystifying why it was removed.
@SpartanTX I have the refund indicator on my 2024 Online edition. It is available after you have gone through the Wages & Income section and the Deductions & Credits section of the program. Click on the symbol > in the upper left of the online program screen.
I understand as I was able to go to Review and run through all those time consuming steps to see what the amount was that I would owe. However, for many years in the past, there was a running total on the right hand side of the top. I could alter dependents to see if that made a difference in the amount owed. I could see the effect of each deduction on the total amount of taxes owed. Obviously, this was extremely helpful for tax strategies and planning. Whoever had the "brilliant" idea to remove it probably does not use the product or at least does not understand how a lot of users use the product. There is a clunky way to get there but it wastes time and eliminates tax effective feedback.
Clicking "Review" doesn't make the refund/owed meter appear for me. I have been unable to locate it anywhere. Developers think they know what people want.... they don't.
Nope there is no solution this. This is so dumb.
I switched to TaxAct. There you can still see your tax refund/owe.
This is only present once you're completely finished with your tax information and are on the final Review process. What the OP is referring to, and what TT *used* to have, was a real-time estimation of your tax refund (or taxes owed) that updated as you went along. It was one of the very few things that I truly liked about TT, in spite of their many horrible design decisions otherwise. Now they've changed/eliminated that feature that clearly the vast majority of their user base liked and wanted to keep seeing. It's like they actively wish to drive their customers to competing products.
I'm using Turbotax Live & found the Refund/Balanced Owed meter & yes, it is tucked away in a stupid place.
On the Left Hand Side there's the slider menu "Tax Home, Documents, 2024 Taxes, Federal etc etc". Then there's the main window, in the Top Left Corner there's "Explain My Taxes >" & if you click on that a window opens that shows the refund or what's owed.
