None of your "solutions" work. Your program is broken and you need to fix it.
I have Windows 11 fully updated. It still doesn't work.
Spent another $10 and got the hard disc shipped to me. Used that to install on my pc and same error. Installed it into my MS Surface Pro and no issues. Not sure what intuit did differently but my PC has at least 4 or 5 years of turbotax installed with no errors until this year.
Working with support from Turbo Tax I was able to resolve the Visual C++ problem.
After numerous failures here is what worked for me:
STEP 1 - go to control panel, programs an uninstall all the visual C++ programs. I had 4. Note that it looks like they are uninstalled but one is not completely uninstalled.
STEP 2 - download on of Microsofts Troubleshooters. Here is the link:
click UNINSTALL. I had to do it twice.
STEP 3 - access Microsoft site to install the latest visual C++. here is the link:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170
page down, install 86 first then 64.
After that TT installed OK
I would be very careful about uninstalling previous versions of Visual Basic. I was advised against this by TurboTax. Your system might be using one of those prior versions & not ger updated with Visual C++.
I went ahead and bought a new laptop thinking that was the problem, but still unable to get past the Visual C++ issue. Spent three hours on a call with an Intuit technician -- nice guy but he was stumped. No refund for software purchase from Amazon, think Intuit should offer refunds!!
I bought a new laptop with Windows 11 and still unable to get past the Visual C++ issue. Spent three hours on the phone with an Intuit technician -- nice guy but he was stumped. No refund from Amazon purchase of the software. I urge Intuit to offer refunds if unable to get to a solution.
I installed TurboTax Desktop successfully on a Windows 10 laptop. The install window asked if i wanted to install Visual C++ and I said Yes. Don't know if my computer (new to me) didn't have it, but the post above seems to suggest if your does, you may need to uninstall-reinstall.
Are you running in Administrator mode? Disabled anti-virus software?
As far as issues with Win 11, here's some info that may help on How to Switch Out of 'S' Mode for Windows 11. Also, here's the link to Download for Visual C and C++.
Here's more on Troubleshooting TurboTax Desktop Issues.
I was running in Windows 10. I tried the trouble shooter & Intuit Help desk tried to make changes in Admin status. I had disabled Virus software. Nothing seemed to work. My brother has Windows 10 on his computer. He got the error, but was able to download Visual C++, after he got the error. Mine simply said incompatible program.
The troubleshooter can't uninstall my C++ programs so I'm not sure what to try next....
right click on the c++ redistributable, select change, then repair. restart pc. try TT again.
The troubleshooter doesn't fix the issue! I have tried that!
Nope, the only fix is a new computer with Windows 11.
