It's TERRIBLE.  I hope they go back to the prior year's screen.  It's useless!  I can't see what my investments and what my husband holds.  I will SERIOUSLY consider going with another tax service next year.  Who came up with this horrible idea?  Probably someone who thinks that they need to change something for the sake of change.

Looks like TT (using the Premier 2024 desktop version), has really messed up the Int, Div and brokerage summary pages. I understand that some imported tax doc from banks and inv firms use consolidated statements, which is fine.  However, these are distinctly different vehicles.  I would rather have a tabular view of all int, div and brokerage income... Now, the view is all confusing...

Looks like they are not able to switch back to previous simple behavior. This could be due to one of the following reasons

 

1. Incompetent development team that has made changes that cannot be reverted or are too costly to make.

 

2.  this changed behavior is intentional so that people using turbo tax will need additional help and will be forced to use their paid services. A sneaky way to increase revenues.

The new interface is indeed confusing and causes unnecessary manual review. In addition the account abbreviation at the top of the box is of no use if you have more than one account at the same broker. I downloaded all DIV/INT data on five accounts but because the 1099s came from a different address than the 2023 imported info I now have ten boxes to deal with. I’ve spent more time trying to figure out which boxes to work with and which ones to delete than I spent on a first draft of my 2023 return. The new design is very frustrating.

As a retired IT professional, the new 1099-INT/DIV/B interface is a disaster, and it is taking me (and many other users) longer to complete my 1099s. For next year, they should revert to the previous interface. I would be happy to speak with the software developers and inform them of the issues with the software. I firmly believe that if it is not addressed, users will begin to abandon TurboTax over the next few years in favor of competitor products. This issue needs to be brought to the CEO's attention immediately.

I've been using TT for decades! NEVER AGAIN. Any company that could allow this to happen is not worth patronizing, even after all this time.

 

I've been designing software and user interfaces for many years. I don't even know how anyone could design a more difficult to use interface - scroll scroll scroll, and then the confirmation boxes popping up way outside the current window that displays only 2 or 3 investments at a time.

I got through to tech support to whine, and ask if there one could switch to the old interface. The answer I got:
1. No
2. Use the online version

I got goaded over and over to use the online version, which of course cost much more, and doesn't allow me to do my taxes off-line. This must be their true reason for breaking this so badly. Instead of having testers to point out the problems (never ending scrolling down and up and down...), they must have asked how could we possibly make this any more difficult! Nothing else makes sense.

I see the same issue in Deluxe desktop version. I like the way they used to present in earlier years

I think John has Premier version of Turbo tax. Its interface may be different

 

I wish Turbotax would change it back to more user friendly earlier years approach

I made a new turbotax file imported from 2023.  Got on screen share with Turbotax.   Went to 1099 Div input.  Showed how I had 1 account already imported from last year in the new ugly bubble view.  Showed how it said "review"

 

So clicked it so I can enter 2024 dividend amount.  Next screen took me to import.   Uh... can't and shouldn't do that because it will make a duplicate account because NO WAY to associate with previous account STILL....  after years of complaining about this.... 

 

Selected skip...   now it asks to make a new account with I do NOT need.  So skip this....  makes a 1099-B account by default without me ever choosing this.   So ...  go back to stupid bubble screen again.  Delete the blank 1099-B that I don't want.  Try to review again.  No way to get out of this loop because the software does  NOT work.  Only way to enter this years dividend is in forms mode.

 

I've requested a full REFUND for wasting my time in my file and my 3 kids files that I do.  And for wasting the support teams time.

 

I suggest everyone request a refund and enter the URL for this thread.

 

If you have a turbotax account and purchased through their website you can see your purchase and click the option on the right and request a full refund.

I logged into my turbotax account.

 

I had previously purchased direct through "turbotax advantage" automatic yearly ordering.

 

Found list of my purchases.

Found the row corresponding with this year's Turbotax version.  Clicked active button on right.  Selected refund.

Once you file your return, as long as the settings to receive communication from Intuit don’t block it, you will see a pop-up message or receive an email with a survey asking you about your experience.
