The fact that the forms are available on the IRS website, doesn't mean it can be e-filed with a tax software program. The forms are available if you are going to download to complete on your own. However, e-filing is different. Once the form is finalized by the IRS, it has to be coded into the special language the software uses and has to be thoroughly tested for calculations and e-filing acceptability. IRS then has to approve it for e-file. It always takes a little longer for a form to become available for e-file in a software program.
Well Catina, they better hurry up and get their act together as there's a little more than a month left before the filing deadline and they're holding everybody help who needs their refund to pay bills, etc. 😤
Agreed @MichaelDesna . Sounds like a refusal for take accountability, as many of us know e-filing is different. H&R Block has the forms. Not to mention, how else could they have populated dates of availability first if it had not yet been accepted by the IRS? Similarly, measures should be put in place to account for the varying lead times. @CatinaT1
@CatinaT1 @By the way, on turbo tax’s website it says this form has been ready for e-file, over the last 3 weeks, and IT’S NOT.
Also, it’s March 2nd and I STILL can’t file.
Ally, did you try calling their "customer service" number and talking to someone else other than Diane ? Many times if you get someone else they're more helpful (and less rude) than she was.
Phone calls are recorded and listened. That person may not an employee of Intuit any longer. Just call back and you should get someone who will help you.
That's good to know, Miss. MCJ. The way that Diane treated Ally was unacceptable.
I was told by customer service that TT is waiting on the IRS to approve the TT version of forms 3800 and 8881. They have no timeline. It is very odd to not have these approvals in place this late. The solution I was provided by the TT rep was to print all of the forms and hand key them on the IRS website. Well I have already paid for the software and already paid to electronically file. In addition to the loss in filing costs, this solution is not reasonable.
Wasn't able to e-file or print out my taxes either to mail in just kept rerouting me to an error for my state. They say the issue is fixed but clearly it is not if it is mid-feb and I am struggling to file. (additionally, there was not notice prior that WA residents won't be able to e-file which would have been nice to know from the very beginning) It will say everything is good but then at the very end says there is an error, and I am not allowed to e-file. Something to do the WTCA program, but I don't even qualify for that, so it just makes no sense. I spent an hour on the phone yesterday with someone who tried to fix the issue, but it didn't help unfortunately, called again today and the rep wasn't so helpful. They didn't have a problem taking payment for services though right away before I could actually file. Thank goodness they could give me a refund with, and I'll be filing elsewhere this year.
Are you trying to Efile your Federal return and Print your State Return for mailing?
If you're using TurboTax Online, close the program, clear your Cache and Cookies and return to the FILE section. Select 'Efile my Federal return' and 'print my State Return for mailing'.
Or, in the File section, choose to 'View/Print/Save' and save your return as a PDF file on your computer. You could print your state return for mailing from the PDF, and then Efile just your Federal return from the File section.
Here's more info on How to Get a PDF of Your Return.
If this doesn't resolve your issue, post again and we'll try to help further.
What is the WTCA program ?
The information you've input into the TurboTax program may have indicated that you are eligible for the new Washington State Working Families Tax Credit.
If you want to skip the WA State Working Families Credit application, please click Skip when prompted to do so. in the WA interview.
Or, you can delete this form from your return, or choose to Delete State for Washington. Here's How to Delete Forms in TurboTax Online. For TurboTax Desktop, use the FORMS mode.
Here's How to Delete a State in TurboTax Online and How to Delete a State in TurboTax Desktop.
I don’t qualify. And I tried the skip, still errored out.
Yes it was that program
