There is an avalanche of reports about Software glitches and malfunctions for the current 2024 Download. Customers have profound software quality, functionality probs

Beware...I already efiled several weeks ago and have received an IRS CP11 stating that I OWE +$1,113!  I've been on the phone with both IRS and Turbotax, without yet, a resolution. I was promised a call back from Turbotax and am hoping it comes today. I am astounded and have never had this problem with TT in prior years.  I will update with the resolution, however, IRS said it looked like income figures were noted then dropped. The kind IRS agent that I spoke too, for over an hour yesterday, said none of the figures add up properly and it looks like TT dropped some of the income after stating it in the beginning. She and I were both frustrated.

Very concerning....and I have never had a problem with Turbotax prior to this. I will update with the resolution.

Where did you download the file?  Did you download from the TurboTax website mentioned in the FAQ below?

Did the downloaded file have one of these filenames?

Windows_PC_TurboTax_Download.exe
or
Mac_TurboTax_Download.dmg

I believe Intuit is attempting to force desktop users to the online version, that sells at a higher price.

I will be switching to H&R block instead and save approximately $100.

I downloaded the TurboTax desktop Premier edition to a Windows 10 PC with no issues whatsoever earlier this year.   Just lately downloaded the Premier edition to a Windows 11 laptop also with no issues whatsoever.

I am having a hard time understanding why not having a CD to use makes the desktop editions so different to people.

If they really want they could always copy the download installation file to a CD and then they would have the CD without have to pay the $10 charge for the TurboTax CD.

I think all or most of the other companies have discontinued the CD too.  Most new computers and laptops don't have a CD reader anymore.  People are confusing the Download with the Online version.  The Download is still the same as the CD program, it's just the method you use to install it.    I have found the download is easier to install.

And since you now have to log into an Intuit Account when you first install it, all your downloads and licenses are listed there (even if you bought it from somewhere else) so if you need to install it again or install on another computer, even on the other operating system (Windows, Mac) you can download it again.
