This happened to me last year, and I took it back to Costco. They gave me a new license. They said they don't normally do this, but I have been a long term Costco customer without issue, so they did replace it.
Error code 606 means the code you are entering is invalid. It can be because one digit (or more) is incorrected or you are trying to enter a Code for TurboTax Online in a Desktop software (or vice versa). The codes for TurboTax Online will not work with TurboTax Desktop & vice-versa.

I bought my turbotax at Walmart and I am entering the licence code I received in the package and I have checked it 3 or 4 times to make sure it is entered correctly, what should I do !!
I would take it back to Walmart and do an exchange.
I called turbo tax they said I’m not the only one with invalid code from costco. I returned it and got a new one,,,, STILL giving me error 606. Invalid license for the 2nd time. Turbo tax specialist here not giving answer
Error code 606 means you are entering an invalid license code. Did you purchase Desktop Software or Online Software? There is a difference between a License Code (for Desktop) and an Activation Code (for Online). You are trying to enter a Code for TurboTax Online in a Desktop software (or vice-versa).
Look on your box from Staples and it will distinguish between TurboTax Online and TurboTax Desktop. They are not the same software, and codes from one cannot be used in the other.
If your box is for TurboTax Online, you can activate your code to your account on this link.
If your box is for TurboTax Desktop, you can download/install your software from this link.
Make sure the license code matches the product, disable anti-virus software (or VPN), run TurboTax as Administrator (right-click icon), or uninstall/re-install.
