Update, today is 4/20 still no withdrawn from bank account. Accepted on 4/3 and allowed to withdrawn set to 4/4.
Call IRS e-file Payment Services 24/7 at 1-888-353-4537 to inquire about your payment, but please wait 7 to 10 days after your return was accepted before calling.
I electronically filed on 4/8/21 and had my tax billed scheduled to be debited on 4/12 and nothing. It was been over 12 days now and after calling they don't have any real answers. I was basically told to pay with directpay and if the original payment ever goes through request a refund. My payment is in the thousands and I am not happy about this option. I just do not get what the hang-up is.
In a normal season, the IRS will debit your account on the date you specified or soon after. We have had several reports of the IRS not debiting accounts on the scheduled date. Just be patient -- the IRS will take your money!
Same issue here. accepted on 4/5. Requested withdraw of payment on 4/6. As of now (4/20) withdraw still hasn't been taken and IRS says they have no record of my return. Who would have ever thought it would be so hard to give the US government $

If you want to check the debit date you specified, look on the filing instructions for your return. It will tell you the debit date the IRS or State will deduct the payment. If you did not print them out you can view them using the following steps:

Update .... my return was accepted on 4/8, and scheduled for payment on 4/12. As so many have said, no withdrawal as of 4/20.

The IRS does take some time to withdraw funds. They are backlogged. Try waiting up to a few days before the May 17 deadline before prompting a secondary means of payment. Otherwise, it could end up that you double pay and then have to wait for a refund.
To determine if there is a problem, check your account here: IRS: View Your Tax Account Information.
If the payment has still not been withdrawn and you are within a few days of May 17, go to IRS Paying Your Taxes for options or see 2020 Form 1040 Instructions, page 62. Payment options include:
mailing in a payment using Form 1040-V Payment Voucher, or
by using either Direct Pay or
by using the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS).
Thanks for the instructions. I have done that and verified the withdrawal date is what I thought, 4/9/2021, the day I filed. Good thing is I was able to validate the bank account and routing number. So they have everything they need. So I'll just wait.
Thanks for the instructions. I was able to double check the withdrawn date and bank info, all are correct. But still no withdrawn from bank, it’s been 12 business days since it was accepted.
I filed my federal tax on April 4th, 2021. The returns were accepted the same day. I had setup my account to be debited on April 6th, 2021. Today is April 20th, and the tax I owe to IRS still hasn't been debited. Based on other messages in this email thread, looks like IRS is behind in tax processing. As long as the returns have been filed and accepted before May 17th, 2021. It should all be fine.
I do need to ensure that my bank account contains enough money to meet the necessary withdrawal by IRS whenever that happens.
I'm in the same situation with payment in thousands, but not sure if I need to do a direct pay or wait. I'm probably going to wait until May 10th, and even if then the payment hasn't been debited, I'll do a direct pay. This would mean more than a month since I filed, that should be enough time for IRS to debit my account.
I checked my returns and so not have page 1 that shows how you paid like I did in 2019? I did Enter all my account information and select a date to be taken out. I believe there is a mistake with TurboTax and it did not register my payment are you able to assist?
Update: Return accepted Apr 8 with payment scheduled for that same day. IRS finally debited payment just now, Apr 21.
Update ... I too had my payment finally withdrawn today (4/21) .... Filed and accepted 4/8
