Thank you very much for that explanation and solution. I've been very frustrated over the last six days, thinking it was a problem with the IRS servers. I think it's a well not a glitch, but odd that the program wouldn't go ahead and submit the Federal, and give a notification that the state is unable to be filed. Other than this I had no problems with using TurboTax.
I am having the same issue as well filing in north carolina this problem has persisted for 4 weeks and ive already paid for the service
One of the news stations reported last night that the NC will open up for taxes on Feb 28th. This is supposedly the root issue for the turbo tax error.
Filing March 1 should work
I am in nc and still cannot file state. We recieved our federal.
Thankyou this worked like you said it would. We appreciate the help for sure.
Thank You, the link provided explains NC is not prepared to accept e-filings until Feb 24...we'll see....
@Kat NEWAHLINS BABEEEE I only say it like that because, we all call everyone baby or honey or love it’s southern hospitality at it’s finest! LOL 😆 LOL 😂 We were relocated to Charlotte NC 23 years ago.
I am filing in NC and have the same issue. This should be fixed by now. I've been using turbo tax for 10 years but probably won't next year because of this.

The North Carolina Individual Income Tax Return Form D-400 is not yet available for e-filing. It is estimated to be available on 02/24/2022
Go to this TurboTax website for North Carolina state forms availability - https://care-cdn.prodsupportsite.a.intuit.com/forms-availability/turbotax_nc_online_individual.html
If you want to e-file your federal tax return now then change how you file the NC state return. This assumes that all of the forms and schedules included in your federal tax return are available for e-filing.
If using the TurboTax online editions click on File on the left side of the online program screen. On Step 3 of the File section click on Start or Revisit. Select the button File by Mail. Then change the filing status of the state return.
After the federal return is e-filed and accepted by the IRS you can e-file the state return when it is available for e-filing. Just use the same procedure and change the state return back to e-filing.
I tried to efile Federal only as suggested. It still has same error message.
I tried to efile Federal only. Same error message
@DoninGA : Thank you so much for breaking it down this way for me to follow. It worked perfectly. Thanks again.
@Cajungal I'm a Louisiana girl, too! Grew up near Alexandria, but spent the bulk of my adult life in Ruston. I just had some Gambino's king cake the other day!
Hi @truhmmel12 , I don't think this is Turbo Tax's error. This is NC state that is causing it. Although, Turbo Tax could have stopped use from clicking Submit button, or displayed better error message, I think turbo tax is great software.
Same thing happened to me, they charged me than told me it was unavailable. Won’t be using them in the future.
