How do I get Turbo Tax to not give me a credit for the $1400.00 for my non citizen wife?

Did you enter a Social Security number for her?  Of did you enter an ITIN that you applied for and received from the IRS?

She has a ss# from when she first came here from Brazil and was a nanny, so I did enter that number. It will not let me pass the stimulus area without giving then an extra 1400.00 on their return.

I'm not sure what to do?

If she has a valid SS number and you are filing as Married Filing Jointly then she would be eligible for the $1,400 Recovery Rebate Credit.

So even though she is not a citizen and was not married to my son at the time the stimulus was given, she would still be eligible?

Even though she came to the US through a nanny company and was given a ss# and she does not work for them anymore that SS# will always be hers and that is what she should use?

Yes. The Social Security Administration assigns people permanent numbers @Annette555.

I assume your question is about the third stimulus payment. Tax champ @DoninGA is correct. She qualifies for the stimulus. The payment on the 2021 tax return (called a Rebate Recovery Credit) is based on 2021 tax information. It dos not matter that she was not married to your son last year when the stimulus was given.

The stimulus has two steps: (1) The IRS sent payments last year based on 2019/2020 tax information, then (2), the 2021 tax return includes a way for  eligible people to claim a payment they did not receive,
