Have you entered your W-2 that shows state income and state tax withheld? What state?
I'm following this. My refund for state shows as zero as well. It's definitely incorrect. I entered in the information on my w2.
@masterworksinbox I think I figured it out! Are you using the software? I switched the view from "step-by-step" to "Forms". I noticed that my residency was not checked on my state return form. I manually checked it and the refund seemed to match up.
Does the state code in box 15 of the W-2 match the state that you are trying to file a tax return for?
Have you selected your state for the state tax return and followed through to the end?
Have you selected the correct state refund balance by selecting the < to the left or > to the right?
I just want to make sure the state refund is correct and if not how to correct it.
We'd love to help you complete your tax return, but need more information. Can you please clarify your question?
Why do you think your state refund is wrong?
Have you checked the W-2 info as suggested in this very old thread? What state are you filing? Don you have specific concerns about your state refund?
Keep in mind, we can't see your tax information, so you need to provide some details to get help.
My nonresident state tax return is showing $0 as well. I have box 15 listed on my W2 correctly on there. The state is South Carolina. There is no way this is right...

We can not see your return and would need more information in order to comment on why this may be or how to correct it.
It says $0 dollars for my state tax return aswell. And I put everything correctly in. And I submitted it already. This is frustrating because I've used TurboTax tax for 2 years. And this glitched out on me. I'm definitely quite upset.
If you looked at the actual tax forms before filing and the forms show the correct refund, you are fine. If you did not check, you will want to amend your state return to show the correct amounts.
Reference: I need to amend my state return.
