In trying to input my Social Security benefits, the program will not accept any input. I have checked my information and everything is correct as far as I can see. Last years benefit was all imported correctly but this years section will not let me input the information. All other income was input as usual.

If I understand correctly:
The steps to enter the Social Security are:
If you did not select Social Security benefit, you would not be able to enter any information.
I too am experiencing a problem with entering the amount of Social Security received. I followed the instructions from the answer to the original question and still cannot input this data. I was able to complete the other boxes on the form but cannot for the amount received. Please advise how to fix this.
After you check that it is Social Security, you enter:
@mizscarlit Are you saying box 5 won't let you make an entry?
Seems to be a problem.
If you can't enter your Social Security in the boxes try deleting the form. See employee John's answer
I read John's post and followed the steps. It didn't help anything. Amy, yes that is exactly what I'm saying ; it will not accept any entry. To the other responder, what do you mean remove the form? I'm following the interview option, not filling out the forms. At this rate I can't report the income from SSA. It must be a glitch in the program.
Exactly!
I actually was able to enter the data by going directly to the form itself and returning to step by step . Thank you everyone for your suggestions.
I tried your step by step suggestions but did not work. I still have the same problem. I've updated TT before working on my taxes and still get this problem. How can I proceed?
mizscarlit got it right...worked for me. Let me describe the process in a bit more detail. Go way up to the top left and click on the icon labeled "Forms". On the left is a list of forms. Click on "Social Sec" to get to the Social Security Benefits Worksheet. On line "A", double-click on the space below the label "Taxpayer". This brings up a small window where you can enter the benefits. Don't bother to itemize if there is more than one person involved, everything gets totaled together anyway, as you will see when you close the small window. At this point if the correct amount is showing under "Taxpayer" I recommend you first save the data, then click again on the icon at the top left to return to "EasyStep". Done.
I do not have 2020 information. Do I need that? I just want to input values.
Follow these instructions to Enter your Social Security income.
Forms SSA-1099, SSA-1099-SM, and SSA-1099-R-OP1 report retirement, disability, and survivor benefits from the Social Security Administration (SSA).
Don't confuse the SSA-1099 with the 1099-R that reports retirement benefits from non-SSA sources like pensions, 401(k)s, and IRAs. 1099-Rs are entered elsewhere in TurboTax.
All SSA-1099 forms get entered in the same place:
We'll calculate how much, if any, of your Social Security benefits are taxable. If your only income is from Social Security, you aren't required to file a return.
pension income no problem but when I get to Social Security benefit input, it will not allow me to enter anything. I have had no problem in the past.
I did all those things you suggested, still unable to enter anything
Box 5 or box 6 can't make an entry
