Schwab import fails

I changed my default browser from Safari to Chrome in MacOS and it imported perfectly... read the fine print in the dialog box, only Edge, Chrome, and Firefox are supported.

I moved to the Mac desktop version (Deluxe) this year after using the online version seamlessly for several years. Never had a problem before downloading from Schwab. Now I can't get the program to connect to it for download. Third-party access is toggled on, VPN is off, and credentials are correctly entered manually. 

TurboTax, please fix this!

Same issue: no problem with TT online, but cannot do so in TT Mac Desktop!

FINALLY got it to work. When the Schwab login screen came up, I entered  credentials with two extra characters at the end of the password. Then I deleted the extra characters and pressed enter. I was astonished when it worked!

This was suggested by another user on this thread; sorry, didn't get the name ... but THANK YOU!

Same issue - "Login is temporarily unavailable" message after entering Schwab credentials.  Tried a lot of time over the last 12 hours or so.  Also tried adding and deleting characters on the password - nothing works.  Figure I will give it up until TurboTax fixes this for everyone

I had the same issue on MacOS Monterrey.  Changed my default browser to Microsoft Edge (from Safari).  Shutdown and rebooted.  Tried and had the same issue.  Hit reload and lo and behold, it worked.  Lucky I guess.  I had been trying since yesterday when Schwab published their 1099s...  Good luck.

I have the same problem.  MacOS Monterey 12.2.1; TurboTax Deluxe.  Cannot import from Schwab.  Seeing the same error message that others have posted here.  Don't remember the exact language of the error message but it was along the line of  "Login is temporarily unavailable.  Please try again or check back later."

TurboTax:  Please fix ASAP!

Thank you to @Anibru as his/her solution appears to have worked for me.

I have MacOS Monterrey 12.21.  On the Schwab login screen that is within TT, there's a tiny message at the lower left that it only supports Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, and Firefox browsers.  Since my default browser was Safari, here's what I did:

1. Download Microsoft Edge and set it as the default browser

2. Close Safari, Edge, and TT Deluxe applications

3. Relaunch TT

4. Establish connection to Schwab.  You may still get an error, but after a few times, it should connect (it may be a bandwidth issue as the Schwab Tax Forms were just made available as of 2/18/22 and likely there are a lot of users trying to access.)

5. If error persists and you have Two-Factor Authentication (TFA) activated on Schwab, try deactivating this first before connecting via TT (even though Schwab site states that you don't have de-activate TFA).  After successful download to TT, re-activate TFA.

Still no luck. Still the same error message "Login is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later or call customer support". I've tried multiple times today at different times but no luck. I'm using Windows 10, Chrome, TT Deluxe.  I did a reboot to see if a clean start would make a difference - nope, no change, no luck. Customer service at TT had never heard of the problem and told me to "manually type in the information" (that's a non-starter for me). The only other suggestion I got from them was "just wait until the next Turbo Tax update comes out on the 24th". Since Turbo Tax seems to have no clue about the problem, why would I believe an update will help.  Good luck out there everyone!

Every time I have tried to access my Schwab 1099 composite data in the last 36 hours I get the following message: "Login is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later or call customer support."  I am running the current version of MacOS.  My default browser is Chrome.  I have verified that my Schwab user ID and password are correct because I can access my Schwab account with the browser.  I have verified that Schwab Security allows access to TurboTax and Quicken.  I know the data is available because I have the Schwab 1099 composite pdf.  I have repeatedly rebooted and restarted the Mac.  I have read and done everything recommended in the "Schwab Import Fails" discussion.  I was able to access Schwab last year using TurboTax 2020 on the same Mac.  I would appreciate a TurboTax technology support employee explain what I need to do other than key in all of the data myself from my Schwab 1099 composite pdf.  Thank you.

As noted above, yesterday I tried all day to get my Schwab 1099’s to download.  “Temp unavailable” message.  Using TT premier desktop on MacOS Monterey (intel chip)

this morning at 4:30am Mountain, I tried again and had no issues…. TT Went right into Schwab and downloaded…. The first time I tried.

I have checked the download files against the paper 1099s and all the summary data appears to be correct (I’m not gonna dig into the detailed data).

i don’t know what is going on but it seems to me that there is a “bandwidth” issue.  If you are still having problems, consider making Sunday morning come a bit earlier.  Your spouse will think you nuts but your dog will love that early morning walk!

of course, if you have to file form 1116 (foreign tax credit)…. You have no hurry downloading your 1099’s as Intuit can’t seem to get its head out of its bucket and get that form live (despite its competitors being able to do so…. TT just blames the government (hmmm, H&R Block has theirs live now…. I guess that they got special treatment from the government? Ha)…. Current for 1116 TT estimate is now 3/3/22…. So, if you actually do need this form…. You should just sleep in tomorrow.

no, turbotax won't import .xml or .csv.  i am fighting this too.

Oddly, i can start a return in the cloud based online turbotax and it will import correctly.

I am trying to export to local install, no luck so far
