Why did I see a response on here saying Schedule H won't be ready until 3/17. H&R Block says it will be ready in their software by 2/7. It looks like the paper form was finalized late last year. 3/17 is ridiculous.

H&R Block's site actually said 2/3 for the Windows version.
The IRS must first approve TT's version (programming) of the form.
Well obviously the IRS is not the holdup if H&R Block is going to have it this week.
You can monitor the availability of the Schedule H form in the forms availability table. This table is updated if timeframes are adjusted.
IRS forms availability table for TurboTax individual (personal) tax products
Thanks. It's nice to be able to check it, but the date is still outrageous.
I called the Support phone number but couldn't get an definitive information. Guess I'll be buying H&R Block's software and filing with them on Friday if I haven't received any information from TurboTax. Very disappointing, but a 6 week delay in filing can mean a much bigger delay in receiving a refund. My state sometimes runs out of money and drags their feet, and I've heard the IRS is behind.
This is not a delay caused by TurboTax: it is the IRS. Schedule H is not ready yet per the IRS, and no other software will be able to file it until it is.
@alan4msu
H&R Block's site says it will be available in their software on 2/3, which is tomorrow. I believe the IRS published the paper copy last year. What you say might be true, but if it is, H&R Block is showing incorrect information.

My plans are to verify with them that their form is ready, and file with them tomorrow or Friday.
@alan4msu Just because the IRS has okayed HRB's version does not mean they have looked at TT's yet. They can only do so much at a time.
Understood. I just talked to H&R Block, and they confirmed the 2/3 date, so we'll see.
The bottom line is that no one on this forum, not even the TurboTax employees who post here, know anything about the forms availability schedule. (The layers of bureaucracy we have to go through to try and convince the company that a question or a calculation is incorrect is ridiculous.) Maybe TurboTax can’t hire enough developers and they have to prioritize other issues. Maybe the IRS is punishing TurboTax for dropping out of the FreeFile Alliance. Maybe the date is wrong because TurboTax got bad information, or the list hasn’t been updated correctly, and the form will be in the program sooner than expected. We just don’t know. If you believe you will have satisfactory performance with another company‘s product, then switch. It’s the only language the Intuit executives will understand.
An update - I filed last night with H&R Block, and there were no issues with Schedule H.
That said, I definitely plan to go back to Turbo Tax next year. Maybe it's just because I've used it for 17 years, but I think it's much easier to use than H&R Block. H&R Block had a couple of differences that reduced my return by a few dollars. I think TurboTax had those items done correctly, but I couldn't figure out how to correct them in H&R Block. It was only a few dollars, so I wasn't motivated enough to call them for help.
