The TurboTax forms and schedules have to be designed, adhere to the Internal Revenue Code of the United States and then approved by the IRS before they can be used for filing.  The date shown for the Form 8889 is the estimated availability date.

It's unlikely that TurboTax will allow filing 2019 Form 8889 until the instructions for it are released by the IRS.  As of 1/15/2020 the instructions for 2019 Form 8889 have not yet been released by the IRS.

I am receiving email notifications that the form is available but it's not downloading as an update.  Any rationale for this?

TurboTax Release R14 was available today.  Update your software.  Click on Online at the top of the desktop program screen.  Click on Check for Updates.

I did click online and check for updates but it gave me a prompt saying "Your software is up to date"

Any other suggestions on how to get this form downloaded ?

It appears that TurboTax may have been a little early with the date for the 8889.  The IRS instructions for tax year 2019 have yet to be updated.

Hi. Any idea if the software will get a update today ?

i check around 530am Eastern 1-27-2020 and it still said my software was up to date. 

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Note that in order to release a form in TurboTax, not only must the form be ready in TurboTax but also the software behind it must be coded and tested. Hence, it is normal for the release of a form in TurboTax to trail the IRS' release.

Form 8889 is available now. You can keep up with the availability of all federal forms at this TurboTax link (for Windows).

Okay yes i see the form is available but in my turbo tax software it still says "available to e-file" ready soon. How long more would it take for Turbo Tax software to actually show the forms available ?

Are you using the Online product or the desktop product? And if you are using the desktop product, have you checked for the latest updates?

I am using the desktop product and did check for the latest updates like three times within the last half hour.

The Form 8889-T is now showing available for the Desktop Software.
