I have a Roth 401K through work, and found out a couple weeks ago that my work may have issued the wrong designation for my contributions on my W2s. Where do I look back into my taxes to find the designation that was used and how do I correct it if it’s not the Roth IRA?

Hello @Beccak1 :
The best way to check on the contributions designation is on your W2, as stated. What ever the employer put there flowed onto your tax return and may not show up because it is a Roth 401(k) which is non taxable, but reduces your taxable income. To correct the error, you need your employer to correct your W2 and then you will have to file an amended tax return 1040X - which is free with Turbo Tax.
Thank you!
