What is astonishing is that TTax has still not really recognized this as an issue and stop the bleeding. I am now skeptical of all other 1099-XXX and am double/tripple checking them. I wonder if this issue is limited to online software or is it on the "Desktop" version too. In which case, the CA's using the import capability will be facing the same issue.
I am using the desktop version and encountered the issue😤
Same here! I was using desktop version last year and it worked fine, and I tried the online version as fidelity gave me a free one, and the online version was having this issue.
Guess what? They didnot fix the bug in online version but they made it consistent across their products, the desktop version has the same bug now....
Yes, when importing from several accounts at the same institution, the second import overwrites the first one. If you're using TurboTax Online, be sure to clear your Cache and Cookies between imports.
In TurboTax Online, however, you can attach a PDF copy of your 1099-B transactions to your tax file. If you save a PDF of all your 1099's from your institution, you can make a manual entry for the total amounts of 1099-INT/DIV, then attach the PDF for 1099-B's.
Here's more info on Importing Multiple Accounts.
I wasn't aware of this bug and just received a letter from the IRS indicating I owed thousands in interest and penalties for my 2023 return because the 1099 from Marcus was not imported fully. I just double checked my 2024 tax return, and the same problem occurred again so I will have to file an amended return and hope I don't get dinged by the IRS.
This is a major issue! If the import process displayed an error or just didn't work that would be one thing, but when it partially works this makes TurboTax customers vulnerable to significant financial loss.
I'm not a happy customer and intend to request TurboTax cover my interest and penalties under their accuracy warranty. Has anyone else requested this?
I'm not sure that the import files are arranged in a way that TTX would recognize that there was more info to import.
____
The only solution I see would be for TTX to ban 1099-INT imports for these problem financial providers until such time as the software teams from BOTH work together offline, to figure out what is causing the problem...and then Fix IT.
