Rental income

I had rental income (1099-MISC) in 2023 and Turbotax shows this historical data.  I had rental incoming (1099-MISC) in 2024.  I "updated", but Turbotax still shows $0 under 2024.  This feels like a UI bug.  How do I resolve this?

The UI shows:

Income from From 1099-MISC  $30,628  $0

$0 is for the 2024 column, but if I click Update, it shows $35,125 for 2024.

How do I resolve this?

I assume you are using the desktop version of TurboTax.

If I understand correctly, what you are seeing is on the Income Summary page with the 2 columns (2023 and 2024) next to the topic for Income from 1099-MISC.   The current year on that 1099-MISC line has had $0 in the current year column for at least 2 years or longer (I can't look back longer than that.)   See if this longer thread on the same topic explains what you are witnessing.

However, I don't understand about the different figure you mentioned when you click "Update."   Have you gone through the Rental/Royalty interview yet?   You can actually enter the 1099-MISC in the Rental/Royalty interview instead of using the "Income from 1099-MISC" topic.

If you've gone through the Rental interview, have you looked at the Schedule E worksheet in Forms Mode to see if it represents the true circumstances?

I'm on a mac, but it appears to be a UI design choice.  It still doesn't feel right.  Please confirm it should say $0, since I filled out he information under Rental Properties and Royalties.

I admit it's confusing, and each year it always catches my eye.  I use Windows, so the finding must at least be consistent across OS platforms.   There are 2 other users in that other thread at the link above, at least one of which is using a Mac.

I'm a fellow user; I don't work for TurboTax.  So the only thing I can confirm is anecdotal, and that it is not a new finding this year.    When I click or right-click on the $0 figure (I don't know how it's done on Mac), I get a popup that says the income was being reported in another place.

AFAIK, it has put a $0 in the current year column for "Income from 1099-MISC" for some time.  When I use Update to look at the info there, it always seems to be correct in that 1099-MISC category, and things appear correct when I go through the Rental/Royalty interview and look at the Schedule E in Forms Mode.   Also, go into Forms Mode, and you can look at the actual Form 1099-MISC info that TurboTax created.
