It appears the IRS changed my return due to the 3rd stimulus check. I had mistakenly answered that we "didn't" get a 3rd check and was expecting a refund of $1311. Now on "Where's My Refund" it states that my balance due is $1489 (which I understand), but it says a letter was mailed over two weeks ago.
If I never get that letter how do I go about making this change so I can pay my balance due and have the proper taxes filed? Do I need to amend my return on TurboTax?
Thanks

You do not need to amend your tax return if you agree with the IRS change.
The IRS has a record of what you owe. You can make a payment without receiving a letter.
A direct online payment to the IRS would be best because you would not have a payment voucher without a letter and your payment may be misplaced, such as credited to the wrong year.
Verify the amount you owe by checking your IRS Online Account. You can also make a payment there. See Your Online Account.
@ErnieS0 …Thanks so much for the quick reply. I will gladly pay it online, but when I login to my IRS account it doesn’t show any amount. It only explains the change in my return on the “Where’s My Refund” page and what it was changed to. So I do have the amount due from the IRS.
Could this be because it is just my IRS page and we filed jointly? And would I just be able to pay it on mine since my wife doesn’t even have an account?
What's the status of your return in Where's My Refund? Is it still processing?
The IRS says your account is supposed to show the latest information over Where's My Refund?
If you are the first one listed on the tax return, then your account should have your info. You should make a payment there. You have until April 18, Even though everything looks OK, if it were me, I would wait until I see a balance due in your online before making a payment.
You can trying calling the IRS at 1-800-829-1040. Be aware. The phone lines are backed up. The IRS opens at 7AM local time in every time zone. The earlier you call, the better your chance of speaking with someone.
@ErnieS0 …It appears that Where’s My Refund listed the last four digits of my SS number as the tax payer. That’s why I thought it would show on mine when I created an IRS login.
I am attaching two screenshots of what I’m seeing on the Where’s My Refund site…Thanks Again…
I would simply wait for the bill to come in the mail from the IRS then mail a check with the payment stub. No penalties or interest will be applied if you pay the entire balance due by 4/18/22.
