I just Founded the solution.log in to NON FILTER website ,delete the form, Click on Start over.It should go to a different menu.go to File 2019 tax return or something like that.then you should see a 1040 form.Transfer all form and Information from your Turbo tax return,You can add any form you need.It let me to efile it.Let Us know if it worked for You!

And to be clear here .... prior to deleting and starting over, you had attempted to efile your 2019 return and it was rejected due to "duplicate ssn" .... which we all now know is because of our error(s) using the non-filer:enter payment details form which created a nil 1040.

If that's true, if you were indeed blocked from efiling a REAL 2019 because of the duplicate ssn, and you went back to the same free fillable forms site, deleted and started over with an ACTUAL 1040 and all of her bells and whistles ... and you pressed submit and that 1040 WENT ... and was not immediately stonewalled with a DUPLICATE SSN message .... da heck? That defies everything I've read to this point.

Have you received any type of confirmation that they accepted it??

I went, deleted, and am now staring into a very LEGIT looking 1040.

Please, please please update  us as new info becomes available to you.

Experts: please, if you have any insight into this please chime in.

Before and after doing this go to IRS and check your refund status. Also should use 1$ for return amount .Yes it did go thru for me but no email no confirmation and status is still pending on irs website.

    GOOD NEWS!GOOD NEWS!

I deleted my Accidental Non-Filers 2 weeks ago, today I went in to check the status of my tax return, It stated the below

You may have not entered your information correctly but at the same time It gives me a second option stating.

If your personal data was correct, please answer the following questions:

Asking to reconfirm the date I filed & if it was Paper or Electronic.

Giving me the option to accept or not accept what i accidentally filed 3 weeks ago.

The tax return seems to be cancelled and no longer able to find, Thank God!

We are in situation that NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT ANSWER TO! I don't care if you are an CPA or Accountant.

Also, I don't suggest taking advice from anyone named Critter? Not even a verified CPA on through TurboTax.

    RE: jamesmahonede  "GOOD NEWS"

This is an interesting result that you stumbled upon.

I guess the real defining question would be...

Have you attempted to re-submit your Form 1040 via e-file, after you discovered, "The tax return seems to be cancelled and no longer able to find." ?

This would be the most important result to know.

In this thread, there have been accounts of successfully "deleting" the original Form 1040 ... and having it "no longer showing up". (including me)

BUT, even when this has been the case, we have still been "locked out" of the e-file system, and have not been able to get e-file to accept a second attempt.

    Have you tested this yet?

Not filing will not stop your stimulus.

Stimulus has nothing to do with your taxes.

But, since you used that form, when you do file either use 1040x..an amended form...or simply use a cover letter saying it's amended cuz you used that form for stimulus.

    From the IRS :  https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc308

If you discover an error after filing your return, you may need to amend your return. The IRS may correct mathematical or clerical errors on a return and may accept returns without certain required forms or schedules. In these instances, there's no need to amend your return.

However, do file an amended return if there's a change in your filing status, income, deductions, or credits.

Don't forget that when you mail a paper return to the IRS, you must include copies of your W-2s and 1099s, plus you need to sign and date the return.

Critter... you are in love with making annotated screen shots for everyone.

How about you use your love of annotated screen shots, to make one of a Form 1040X, and show everyone, exactly how they should fill out that form in order to amend their STATUS, from non-filer to filer.

I read, the same IRS text that you highlighted. The trouble is that the Form 1040X has no provision on it to "amend" a STATUS... even though the IRS instructions say that this form CAN be used for this purpose. As a practical matter, it can not.

But please... you have posted this same post many many times in multiple posts, denigrating and insulting TT users who made this "non-filer" filing error.

So please... use your screen shot annotating skills and enthusiasm and show everyone here exactly how they would go about doing what you ... and the IRS are professing is the right way to go about this.

Show us a sample Form 1040X filled out the way you would submit this form if you were in the situation that all these people are in. And see if you can do it without insulting people. The other readers aren't responding to your insults very favorably.

The IRS says to check back in 6 weeks (42 days) and they should have received and accepted a paper return by then.

    You’ve waited 6 weeks.

I have waited 6 weeks also.

I have used both the IRS web site and the IRS app to try and verify receipt of my paper return.

Each attempt says that the data I’m entering (they ask for the anticipated return dollar amount to verify identity) is incorrect. (could not be verified)

Im entering the correct numbers. So this tells me they haven’t received? Accepted? Processed? Reconciled? my paper return yet and my account is still showing my mistaken $1 non filer return as the latest they have.

Im in the same situation as you.

Nothing to do but wait I guess.

I presume the typical 6 week processing time is longer because of COVID. How much longer? Unknowable.

If you mailed in a form 1040  AFTER filing a stimulus registration return then it may or may not be accepted for processing  as an amended return ... there have been no information released by the IRS on this subject.

The proper way to file was to mail in an amended return form 1040X which under normal times takes as long as 4 months to process however since the IRS didn't open any mail for 10 weeks you can add another 2-3 months to the process meaning Thanksgiving at best.

There may be no way to track these returns thru the system since they are not original returns or amended returns so the IRS tools may be useless.  All anyone can do is wait until the IRS has time to sort all of this out.

I did the SAME THING & now IRS won't let me file my 2019 taxes saying there is a duplicate SS# being used.  I applied for Stimulus check under "NON-FILERS" because I earn less than $12,000/year but found out recently I have to file since I pay for Marketplace Health Insurance & they will take away insurance if I don't file.  Is there ANYWAY to delete the Stimulus check application & start over so I can e-File my 2019 taxes?

The Economic Impact Payment’s Non-Filers tool was not intended for use by taxpayers who also needed to file a tax return with the IRS for tax year 2019. If you used the Non-Filers tool to register for an Economic Impact Payment, you cannot now file your tax return electronically.

You must complete and print a paper 2019 Form 1040 or 1040-SR tax return, write “Amended EIP Return” at the top, and mail it to the IRS.  If you owe tax, you should pay it in full by the July 15 due date.  Interest will be charged after July 15 on any amounts that are not paid by July 15. For more information, visit the Amended EIP Return page.     @cyndiraz1

Recommended if you owe tax: Pay your taxes at IRS Direct Pay (this also automatically gives you an extension)
