I remembered someone told me I can file for a tax refund for the out of pocket expenses I spent for work. Is that really possible? If it is, how does that work and how will I file that in the incoming tax filing?

Sorry---W-2 employees cannot deduct job-related expenses on a federal return. Job-related expenses were eliminated as a federal deduction for W-2 employees by the tax laws that changed for 2018 and beyond. Your state tax laws might be different in AL, AR, CA, HI, MN, NY or PA.
I live in NY, I wonder if it’s still applicable in NY’s tax law. Thanks, anyway!
