Thank you for the quick reply! I should have been more forthcoming in what I have tried so far:
Initially, I received this error using Chrome browser on a PC.
I downloaded the TurboTax app and had the same issue
I have cleared cache and cookies for both browser/PC Chrome and the App, and am still having the same issue.
I have logged out and back in again, selecting "Home" and then allowing the program to refresh
Issue specifically: On the "Do you have any self-employment income?" When I select "Yes", or when I tried to edit the previous year for 2023, I received a landing page with the error "Something went wrong"
I have also rebooted both devices 🙂
These are caused by a networking disconnect.
Check to make sure you have a good, strong internet connection. If you are using a vpn, you might need to temporarily disconnect it. Same with anti-virus software.
It only seems to be this page having issues.
Internet troubleshooting:
I have stable connections. For the PC I am plugged in via Ethernet. For Mobile/App, I have tried with Wifi and also 5G. I am not having issues with other pages in the app or browser so far.
I am not using a VPN, and disabled antivirus on the PC but am still having the same issue.
How are you trying to add the 1099 income? CSV import, Manually, Brokerage API?
By clicking the yes button to begin the 1099. I haven't been able to get far enough to try entering anything yet, simply acknowledging that I had 1099 income.
Included below are screenshots of the page where I selected "Yes", then am brought to the following error page.
Can you try this and see if this works and let me know?
1. Log out of TurboTax.
2. Update your WINDOWS software.
3. Reboot computer.
4. Log into TurboTax and if you are on a desktop version, check for updates.
I appreciate the help, but this is a known issue with TurboTax and its 1099 forms. Review sites such as Google Store are littered with 1 star reviews of multi year customers needing to leave TurboTax and find other solutions. Some of these comments include customers that were speaking with the development team and still having issues weeks later.
This is not a me problem, its a TuboTax problem. Y'all broke your own software. I have tried multiple devices, multiple forms of internet, and its the same problem, with MORE issues occurring last time I tried. The system loops on itself back to the sales page to select a type of service, even when trying to look at previous years returns. I had to to go to the IRS site to get my prior year AGI because I can't access my 2021/2022 files anymore on TurboTax, ridiculous. I paid for tax services and documents I can no longer access. Intuit is breaking their programs. They removed Mint and replaced it with Credit Karma, a useless app filled with ads.
At this point, I'm in the process of wrapping up my taxes with H&R Block. It was less expensive, they actually are responsive, and it WORKS. Sorry Intuit/Turbo Tax, you have lost myself and many others as a customer with your greed and broken programs.
To the tax experts on here trying to help with tech issues that Intuit/TT should have an easier way to communicate with and be responding to me rather than you, thank you! I really appreciate it 🙂
