Notice Letter 1444-C for $1,400 to us as a couple

OK, all the previous stim payments, etc went to us as a couple with no problems.

However, the ARP for $1,400 that was to be per person which was sent to BOTH of us as named on the Letter 1444-C was only $1,400 not $2,800.   That is also the amount that was deposited to our US bank account as copy and pasted below.

04/21 ACH DEPOSIT, IRS TREAS 310 TAXEIP3 ****[removed]    1,400.00

All I could think of at the time as to why we only got half is that I am an American expat living in the UK with my British spouse.  And so he did not qualify for this round of payments?

We did live together in the US from 1992-2000, and he had a green card which of course is long-expired.  We returned to the UK in 2000 and have continued to file jointly. That is  30 years altogether of filing as a couple. He gets his one-half Soc Security payments based on being my spouse as we lived in the US together for long enough.

So, was he not eligible because he is not American and/or is not living in the US with a green card any longer?  If so that answers the question. Fine, if so,  but how to I fill out that part of TT which is asking me about whether the amount we got matches $2,800 as I am doing a joint return.  Should I just say yes to move on from the question, or was he entitled and we should have investigated?

Cheers, for any help!  (Oh, and I have to file a paper return, TT won't let me e-file from my UK address, so I can manually do anything needed to sort this).

Notice Letter 1444-C for $1,400 to us as a couple

Correct.  He is not eligible if he is not living in the US and doesn't have a green card anymore so yes, you can just enter $2,800 and move on.
