@kategordon I am not self employed but: when I went to file it was all done for me. I filled everything in with my W2 & 1099G forms and the website did the rest with the exclusion for me.
Well I have the software and it's not fixed. Even though I"ve been told it has.
We have the Home/Business one. We have always used TurboTax. TurboTax has done a poor job with communicating what they have done and will be doing. The Mac and/or uploaded versions should be address with what is going on. People are getting on here and other sites asking questions. Surely, TurboTax has a spokes person. Tax act and H&R done. I went on Tax act this morning and put in all our information just to see if the 10,200 tax exemption would be there. Sure enough it was. Now, TurboTax can’t be that far behind. If Tax act and H&R have it done, I don’t get why TurboTax is struggling.
Every year I buy a full price TurboTax digital version pretty much the day it's available and file my taxes the first day I can. This year, I am way behind waiting for the unemployment. Intuit/Turbotax has, for whatever reason, prioritized their website over people who have already paid for the software. That's terrible customer service. I have already bought and paid for my federal and state TurboTax digital from Amazon. No refund available. If I want to file now, which I really need my refund, I'd have to pay again for the website version. When will the digital copies we already paid for get updated? Thanks.
Funny that yours did everything for you because my self employed on-line edition states that my UI 10,200.00 is now reflected in my return yet there have been NO changes and NO reduction and NO LESS Federal Tax due. What am I missing? Are we to pay the amount due then receive a refund in the mail? Is that how it works? I just don't know what to think now ;especially since Turbo is telling me that everything has been done now. My Gross income is only 43,000.00.
Absolutey do not understand what Turbo Tax is telling me now. They claim that my exclusion has been adjusted, yet it has not changed ANYTHING on my return, I have a gross income of 43,000.00 much of this is overpayment so my tax bill is twice what it would be if I had everything paid by the end of 2020, which I neglected to do...yet that should not matter, my Unemployment amounts have not gone down the 10,200 as promised...Do you or anyone else know how this works?
While you are waiting on TurboTax, go to Tax act and create a fake return. Put all your information in there. This will give you a pretty good idea what your refund would be. The hey do have their program updated. This will tell you how the 10,200 affects you.
YES AGREED! Also my Turbo tax sent me an email telling me all was updated, no it was not. Also finally I received a message telling me that I qualify for the 10,200 exclusion and that this amount has been reflected in my return...which I have not filed yet....and yet NO CHANGES in federal Tax amounts due nor reflected anywhere on my return...that is very scary if it is a glich in the IT system.! My tax bill should look different shouldnt it? also are we suppose to just pay normal amounts due then receive a refund in the mail now? I have no idea whats going on. Please anyone who got their adjustment of the 10,200.00 exclusion...Please explain if your federal tax amt due went down automatically?
It is now March 20th....Big trouble with IT it appears. Because:
My Turbo Tax self employment edition just sent me an email telling me all was updated, yet no numbers on my return had been changed Nothing is lower, Fed Taxes still the same. 1099 UI still the same.... Also finally I received a message telling me that I qualify for the 10,200 exclusion and that this amount ( has been reflected) in my return...which I have not filed yet....and yet NO CHANGES at all in federal Tax amounts due nor reflected anywhere on my return...that is very scary if it is a glich in the IT system.! My tax bill should look different shouldnt it? also are we suppose to just pay normal amounts due then receive a refund in the mail now? I have no idea whats going on. The update for the UC exclusion was made available in the TurboTax online editions. The TurboTax desktop CD/Download editions have not yet received the updated software.
