Hello,
Turbo tax sent out a report stating an extension for those in NC to file taxes until April. Does that mean the October 15 deadline does not apply. Is this correct?

Yes, the due date for your tax return has changed if you filed for an extension, you were affected by the effects of Hurricane Helene and you live in North Carolina.
Go to this IRS website for information - https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-help-available-to-victims-of-hurricanes-helene-and-milton-may-1-dea...
So that means the system will update you for another extension after Oct 15 if you do not file because you are a N.C. resident?
It is supposed to happen automatically.
The IRS automatically gives taxpayers whose address of record is in a disaster-area locality more time to file returns and pay taxes. Taxpayers get the extra time without having to ask for it.

After October 15 the 2023 tax return can no longer be e-filed using TurboTax, it can only be printed, signed, dated and mail by you to the IRS. The TurboTax software will not be updated for the new IRS rules for filing from a disaster area. The IRS will know by the address on the received tax return that it is eligible for the extension until May 1, 2025.
