I don’t know how true this is but we all have a problem here!
Same boat. We only received 1200 and expecting 2900.
Mine should have been $2700, I got $391.
IRS says you will receieve a letter within 15 days of payment with instructions on how dispute wrong payments.
I thought it was $ 1,200 and an additional $ 500.00 per child. Instead I received a payment of $ 1,600.00
Mine was $1491.66. Did not make any sense. Called bank and they said that was the deposit.
I filed my 2019 taxes before April 1st 2020. That would have qualified me for the full amount. Unfortunately 2018 was not qualifying me for the full amount. I am quite disappointed they seems to have checked my eligibility from 2018 not 2019, even though I already filed my taxes.:( Anyone had this issue?
Exactly what happened to me. Do we just wait for the letter in 15 days and then hope to appeal?
How do you know what you’re qualify for?
Not quite. This letter we'll receive in 15 days involves, "The agency plans to mail taxpayers a letter within 15 days after their payment is made with details about how it was delivered and how to report problems with receiving it." So this letter will supposedly address how it was delivered and how to report problems RECEIVING it. The problem with most of the people here is not with RECEIVING it but with the incorrect amount. Knowing the IRS, this letter will provide zero assistance and just a bunch of boilerplate language that really says nothing. Hope I'm wrong though.
You should look at how much you made in 2018 and 2019 if you filed both. I made over the 75k in 2018. I am a gig worker and that year was just a good one. 2019 I was way below the limit and they should have checked my eligibility from that. Filed before it was April for 2019, just right after they passed the law. I guess I will wait for the letter. By googling it seems like next year when 2020 tax return is filed, they will check eligibility again and If you d qualify for more then, they will add the difference between what you get now and the 1200. But of course if you have financial hardship now it is not that helpful:(
I submitted two separate income taxes last year using TurboTax (one for my husband and I jointly, and another for my 27 year old daughter) using the same direct deposit information for each one. That was not a problem last year because I just transferred her State refund to her (she had to pay Federal), but now we only got one stimulus deposit (for my husband and I), and not for my daughter. She qualifies for the stimulus (she is a teacher) but did not receive it (it should have come to my account) and I think it is because my same direct deposit account was used twice (for mine and also for hers). When I look at the "Get My Payment" they don't have her information but they have ours, yet I verified that her Turbo tax refund was submitted last year as well. Neither of us have submitted our taxes this year yet. Who can I contact to get this fixed?
I did not file with TurboTax and mine was wrong. This was the only place I saw anyone talking about there’s being wrong as well, so I joined. I don’t think it’s TurboTax, I just think it was the process.
I did not file with Turbo tax either, and they went with the 2018 return instead of 2019 that would have qualified me for the full amount.
I used TT to do the work and was surprised when it would not let me file electronically. I printed their form and mailed it March 15. Should have been in time.
