Does you return have forms 8915A and B Qualified 2016 Disaster Retirement Plan Distributions? Mine does and both forms have DO NOT FILE flag. Could be part of the problem.
I did not have 8915A and B Qualified 2016 Disaster Retirement Plan Distributions. Just back door Roth, as well as a Traditional to Roth conversion.
The added steps that were not in there before for the IRA 1099R steps was the questions regarding whether it was rolled over, recharacterized, or converted. And then the Basis calculation questions and Account values on Dec 31st, 2020. This populated the correct boxes on the form 8606 and then it is now accepted. This was for a non-deductable Traditional to Roth IRA conversion backdoor.
Great news!. I got accepted. Desktop version. got the update and resumitted. I didn't do anything no deletion of 1099R
Finally! Return accepted!
SUCCESS finally !
- Thanks to the community members in various threads, my FED Tax return was accepted. I further verified this via the "Wheres My Refund" app (aka IRS2GO), on my iPhone. State is still pending, but I am confident of its acceptance.
-I did not delete the 1099R('s), as others did, but rather I populated all the data, (albeit the same data that was there previously.) File>Save>Resubmit
-So it seems, the SW update earlier today 3/4/2021, either alone , or with a TT server update on their end, did the trick.
So thanks to all that posted their successes. I trust all will have the same success shortly. I am happy, but as others have stated, very disappointed in the manner Intuit has handled this situation. Will seriously consider an alternative in 2022
Best to all..
Motoviper, those questions were always on my version going back to late February when I started my return. Nothing new shows up.
Same. This is after a buggy experience using the software as well.
I just tried to re-file. The flow said that it was a known bug with the software and I should re-install, but I used the web version.
I'll post with an update on filing status when I have one.
I just googled "alternatives to TurboTax." Seems like they messed up this year.
Accepted! Rejected twice, accepted just now!
One thing I did notice. Form 8606- On the rejected return, Line 11 had the amount that was converted. The accepted return had the amount listed on Line 12. I also confirmed this with another return that was accepted on Feb 24th. That amount was listed on Line 12. Just an observation.
As a side note, I am annoyed as much as everyone here, but TT is still by far the best software I have ever used. I actually made less money in 2020 so time was of the essence this year in getting my return filed before stimulus checks go out. Besides that I do agree there was no communication or transparency regarding this issue, and if it wasn't for this thread, I would be going crazy thinking it was only me. So thanks to all for posting!!
In case it helps anyone, I went in to my Form 8606-T, filled in the home address info on top, which was blank, and then added zeros to lines with no data, saved and retransmitted my returns and they were accepted.
Federal Accepted! 4th time is a charm.
I checked for Updates and there weren't any more today so my software was updated earlier today (when I first posted but after it was Rejected the 3rd time).
All I did was deleted the IRA entries and re-entered them. So, today's combination of Software Update and IRAs Recreated seems to have worked.
Does the fix apply to the online version as well. I go in to refile and it shows me there is an error, etc? Just refile anyway?
Mine was rejected yesterday for the same reason and caused my state file to be rejected. TurboTax said the problem was fixed, so I re-filed last night. Both Fed and state were rejected again. There was a software update when I opened TurboTax tonight after the 2nd rejection but I am not sure it fixed the problem. Think I will wait until tomorrow.
I use the website version and I went and deleted the 1099R and put in manually maybe an hour ago and mine was accepted. So I am not sure about just going to refile. But maybe just try? Though didn’t take long to renter the 1099R.
👍🍾
