@Larry_CA Are you looking for the License Code to activate the program? They just released the program downloads today and there seems to be a glitch that they didn't send out the license codes. See this thread,
Well - I'll be - you are spot on. I got a new laptop and thought I would install on it to finish my 2020 taxes (I know a bit late) and it kept asking for activation code until poof #603 - what BS. Well I tried plugging in the thumb drive I must have had installed when I installed TT2020 - and it works.
So, Intuit, why don't we just fix this problem (needing an exact hardware footprint inclusive of removable devices) and tell us you have fixed it. Then we can decide if we take the risk on your 2021 product. This is ridiculous.
TT owners? Class action time?
Here we go again, just changing the hardware configuration of a machine that was previously activated successfully causes TT to ask for activations again.
In this case a second internal HDD was added on recently purchased PC and that was enough to cause this problem with activation again even if the PC was successfully activated with TurboTax 2 days before.
How many years is it going to take for Intuit to fix these activation problems?
Digital licenses should be tied to the S/N of the machines not to a limited number of activations that get all used up because of the activation bugs.
Please fix the problems, this situation is ridiculous and it has been going on for years now.
Is TurboTax 2021 going to have the same bugs? 😢
I'm still having the same issue with my 2020 & 2021 Premiere Turbo Tax. Last year I even let TT connect to my computer which I always said I'd never do, took hours to do and they couldn't fix it. They ended up giving me 5 new codes. I think I've just used up my last license again so I will be on the phone with TT AGAIN this year. Is there another Tax software that will import a Turbo tax file? At this point I will enter all my information again into H&R or another parties software. Using TT has gotten more stressful than the dealing with my actual taxes.
Yes, H&R Block tax software will import your Turbotax data file. I’m already using it instead of Turbotax, and I actually prefer it. It’s much faster and easier to use IMO. It’s a lot cheaper, too. And of course, you don’t have all the activation problems that plague Turbotax.
I think I am going to switch ! Thank you!
I’m tired of paying more and more every year and with this log in problem last year I purchased Turbo Tax multiple times last year to get my taxes done!! Intuit has grown arrogant which shows with last years lack of fixing this problem and even more not telling us openly about this problem and how to fix it! Been using Turbo Tax since 1983 - I guess they don’t mind loosing a very long customer! Thank you!

Have you guys tried this solution?
I turned on my USB-connected Canon printer to print out a Quicken Tax Summary and TT started asking me for an activation code. I've been using TT all day doing different returns and jumping between different returns; I'll bet I've opened and closed TT thirty times today alone, with no problems. Then, all of a sudden, it starts asking for my activation code. Panic....., did some research online and low and behold......
Turned the printer off and got in to TTax again with no problems.......
TT appears to be using the age-old method of hardware footprint in determining how many computers you load the software on (a method Microsoft quit using decades ago). When you first install the software, TT takes a 'picture' of your connected hardware. Any deviation from that setup, TT assumes it is a different computer. If, after successfully getting in and working in TT you suddenly start being asked for the activation code again, look at your hardware!!! What printers or thumb drives or external hard drives, etc.; ANY USB DEVICES; were plugged in / turned on / not plugged in, etc. when you loaded the TT software the first time. Get your pc back to that original configuration and you should have no trouble getting back into the software.
Same for me. Installing Turbotax 2020 and 2021 on a new PC. Error code 603. Called the 3rd party vendor that sold me the software and got new activation codes, so not too painful. But come on, I can't remember (and neither am I going to try to document) what USB devices I had plugged in last time I used TT !!!!!!
To know and be sure, then don't have any usb things plugged in when you first install it. Then make sure everything is out before starting the program each time.
Thanks, Volvogirl. That advice would have been nice before I installed it.
If you have issues with TT asking for the activation code everytime you open it first uninstall it, then before re installing it remove any flash drives from the usb port. Just have the basics like a keyboard and mouse plugged in nothing else. It will work. The number to live support is 1-800-4INTUIT ([phone number removed]).
This TT Tip really solved my issue.
Thanks

I've been using 2021 TurboTax Home and Business on the same computer since Dec 2021, it was activated and worked fine until today, Jan 26, 2022.
Today I tried using it again and asked me for activation again. It is the same computer, but the stupid activation process of Intuit cannot remember the S/N of a computer and assign a Digital License.
This whole activation method is a joke.
The only thing that was changed yesterday on this computer was the Driver for the Storage controller, switching from IDE/RAID to AHCI, but all the disk drives are exactly the same and there is no other change in the configuration, no other external USB drives or Flash drives connected.
Why is TT still asking for a new activation?
I have Windows 11 with latest Updates to Build 22000.469.
Please fix this annoying activation bug! ☹️
This bug is ridiculous, and it has been going on for 3 years now, TT 2019, TT 2020, TT 2021.
Is Intuit ever going to fix this nonsense?
Now I'll have to call in to get a new activation code, this really sucks.
Note that at the same time, I also lost the activation for the 2020 Turbo Tax Home and Business on the same machine.
@fg2001gf I am very sad to learn this is still happening in the 2021 tax year version of Turbo Tax. I spoke with an assistant to the president of Intuit last spring about the 2020 tax year version (after I had the same problem with 2019 tax year software) and he assured me they would update their process to verify the user has a license. I am done with Turbo Tax and will switch to another company's software - they do not deserve our business.
