Error 1334 occurs when attempting to uninstall or repair TurboTax. You'll see a message like ApplicationController: MSI Install Exception occurred: MS installer error 1334. The exact wording in the message may vary, but Error 1334 is constant. I provided a link below that includes a solution to fix this problem:
Error 1334: Error installing C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\TurboTax
Error code 1334 is a Microsoft issue.
Fix Microsoft files....
Go to Search>>CMD>>Run as Administrator>>
Type CD\ and Press enter
Type SFC /scannow and press enter
This will repair any Microsoft integrity violations.
nothing in these links helps or works. I am stuck with an unusable product. Any other suggestions? Amazon will not refund my money and I'm stuck with a garbage program.
@ocindymom Please contact Customer Support regarding this matter; contact details can be found here.
Unfortunately if you try to call customer support they say they have high call volume and to call back at another time. You cannot even wait on line for someone to answer. So they are no help either. Another dead end.
I called customer service first thing at their opening time and was immediately connected with a person who was very helpful.
The problem turned out to be a screen resolution issue. Went into settings and set for lowest resolution, the information fields then showed up in the registration box, I entered information, clicked on submit--all good. Went back into settings and reset resolution and all was well.
It's kind of ditsy for this to happen. Doesn't say good things about the code engineers.
Tom
so do you have to use Turbo Tax with the lowest resolution or just for the initial activation? Even if it's just for the activation, this should be made very clear by Intuit as part of the installation instructions. On Amazon and on internet blogs there are many many customers who cannot activate and are not getting a path for resolving the issue. TT should state that in order to activate you first have to set your resolution at the lowest setting. All said, this is a really unacceptable bug in a program and points to really poor programming which is maybe why they don't want to advertise the fix.
Can you confirm whether your software works in higher resolution after you activated or if you have to continue with the lower resolution to enter your tax return? That will determine whether I request a refund from Intuit and switch to another tax provider.
Low resolution was only necessary for the registration window. After registration I reset to high resolution. That was my mileage. Hope yours is the same.
Program worked fine after that. Taxes filed.
I suspect this was a programming glitch. Maybe it's been corrected in their updates.
Well the screen resolution change worked for me just now, after 2.5 hours of trying everything else they have listed on their help site. Very disappointed they haven't corrected this or at least let people know what to do to finish the installation/registration It is actually really aggravating and I think I will look at different software next year. I don't like having my time wasted.
Yeah, I sympathize. That glitch should not exist. TT better up their game.
do I have to reinstall the program?
No, not needed. Read my earliest reply/fix above.
I have tried all of that nothing works. They do not want to address this serious problem. I am using a new computer XPS 8940 Dell. My older computer works just fine.
Maybe uninstall/reinstall. Once you launch the program and get the first screen--which will be a registration box that looks empty--go into your screen resolution settings and set for lowest resolution. At that point the registration box should show fields that you need to enter info into then submit. After done with registration box reset your screen resolution to your normal setting.
If none of that works call cust. service at 8:00 their time.
