ITIN

My application for ITIN where I sent my Malaysia national ID & driving licence ,expired passport ( didn’t renew due to covid-19 pendamic where we can’t travel ) which is certified by Public bank is being rejected .
 
How shall I get these copies to be certified ? Where each document is issued by different government departments where not all the departments are operating ... 
 
Could you please advise how could I get all these to be certified at the same place ? Is certification by police station ,high court be acceptable? Tq

The detail listed really needs a review and a comparison check to determine the answers to your questions.  I would suggest calling before you send anything to the IRS.  Use the information below to assist you.

  • In order to retrieve a lost ITIN, you will need to call the IRS ITIN Hotline at 1-800-908-9982. You can answer a series of questions to verify your identity and the IRS should provide you the number.  Have your temporary ITIN ready and available.

 ** Can I resend the Original AR Registered Mail card for IRS's reference to reconsider my status of application for Tax Extension ?

Yes and make mention on your documents that the due date for the return and a request for extension was July 15, 2020. I would include a statement with a list of all attachments to the return as well as a copy of the CP54B.  Understanding your CP54B Notice

 

** Why are the income and withholding numbers different than what is on the Form 1040NR? Understanding your CP13 Notice

  • What you need to do: 

  1. Review the notice and compare our changes to the information on your tax return.
  2. Correct the copy of your tax return that you kept for your records.
  3. If you agree with the changes we made, you don't need to do anything.
  4. If you don't agree with the changes we made, contact us within 60 days from the date of your notice, and see frequently asked questions on this page.

@leesm99pikl , if you are in this country ( physically present in the USA )  then before  anything you MUST renew your passport  before applying for ITIN --- without a valid passport  it is unlikely that  IRS will grant you an ITIN.   Also I am not sure I understand  why you need an ITIN if  you are present in the USA without a valid  Passport -- please can you clarify  the situation for me?

If you are not physically present in the USA and need the ITIN  only for filing a return  ( Non-Resident Alien ) for recognizing US source income,  then yes, all you need is to prove your identity and instead of a passport  you may need to use the services  of a local  agent certified  by the IRS for such purposes.   You can also visit the  nearest  US consulate and they generally  can help in this .

I received Notice CP54B & CP13 dated December 6, 2021 on January 24, 2022 .
 
Notice CP54B : Problem with Name & Individual Taxpayer Identification Number ( ITIN ) on year 2019 Tax Return 
( i ) - On July 15, 2020 I postmarked my year 2019 form 4868 for Tax Extension till Oct 15 .
 
      - I received form 6513 dated September 20, 2021 mentioning my application for extension of time to file tax return has not been approved because my application was filed after the due date ( where  IRS received my July 15, 2020 postmarked form 4868 on August 6, 2020 )
 
     ** Can I resend the Original AR Registered Mail card for IRS's reference to reconsider my status of application for Tax Extension ?
 
( ii ) - I submitted form w-7 with copy of Form 4868, 1040NR with 1042-S & copy of Tax Year 2019 Year End Summary ( Form 1099B ) from Charles Schwab on my Long-Term Realised Loss of 4,211.90 ( form 8949 ) to offset my Dividend Income of 1,948.00 ( form 1040NR page 4 Schedule NEC - Tax  on Income Not Effectively Connected with US Trade ) so as to get the Refund of 584.00 With-holding  Paid .
 
       - On Sep 10, 2021 I received letter from IRS on assigning me the Temporary Taxpayer Identification  Number [removed]* due to my Form w-7 was rejected to expedite the processing of 1040NR tax return where I submitted with my ITIN application ( It mentioned that No Refund will be issued                 until a valid ITIN is assigned )
 
       ** I'm now confuse with Notice CP13 ,mentioning there is No Tax Payable & No Tax Refund ?
 
Notice CP13 :
( i ) Notice CP13 mentioning there is Error on my Schedule D ( 122D & 299D ) where Capital loss limited to   3,000.00 ( I'm Single )
      ** I can't find item 122D & 299D on Schedule D ,does it mean item 21 on my Schedule D of 3,000.00 ?
 
( ii ) Notice CP13 page 2 Tax Calculation
      ** Why is my Adjusted gross income, line 35 being 3,000 per IRS calculation ? My Only Income per Form 1040NR is 1,948.00  from my dividend  
 
( iii ) Notice CP13 page 2 Payments & Credits
      ** Why is my Income tax withheld , line 62 being Zero ? Not 584.00 ( 30% of my 1,948.00 dividend ) per Form 1040NR ?
 
      ** Why is Other credits, line 64, 65, 67-70 being 584.00 ? I only filled in line 62d on Form 1040NR  being my payment of 584.00 for Withholding Tax per Form 1042-S

Is that I can postmarked it within 60 days ? Since it takes 1 month from US to mail to Malaysia, I afraid that my reply to them will takes 1 month to reach them .
