Deleting Schedule E will not remove your rental property from your return. Because you have rental assets, the schedule will be recreated after you delete it.
If you reported the rental property last year, but had no activity this tax year, you have two choices:
1. Report that you no longer rent the property. This will remove all the history from TurboTax (assets & depreciation), which you would need to re-enter if you rented the property in the future.
2. Report that you rented it for 1 day with no income. You can do this if the property was available to be rented (was not used for another purpose), but you had no tenants. You also can deduct "holding" expenses and depreciation for the property during this period.
Thank you for your reply...If you don't mind me asking, how do I report that I no longer rent the property? I have no deductions and show 0 rent days, you would think that would be enough to trigger this.
What did you do with it? Did you sell it?
I moved into the house April 2020.
