Is anyone having trouble importing a 1099 from your broker?

Turbo Tax has run multiple investigations into this, and it is not a product issue. It would be best to contact Edward Jones regarding this. Once you have spoken with Edward Jones, if you are having the same issue, please click here to contact us by phone. @dmerodgers1 @xpec0 @JMD1 @tomrose64

Is anyone having trouble importing a 1099 from your broker?

I have changed my password on Edward Jones site to eliminate special characters, and I'm still getting the "Response from Edward Jones" that their system did not recognize my ID or password.  I've tried enabling third-party access, but that just offers docs for DLing to desktop (in a .zip file). My hunch is that Edward Jones' new site is the problem, but it's really a hassle.

You can try this work around if it's not your password issue. Please see the work around in this thread here to assist with solving your issue.

Is anyone having trouble importing a 1099 from your broker?

No can do...I have been posting for a week or two now. I have tried most every fix suggested to no avail. Funny I can log into EJ with the ID/Pswd and the same fails when going through TT.  One poster in the thread stated that when he did his daughters taxes on 2/4/23 importing worked just fine.  When he went to do his taxes around 2/15 +/- he received the ID/Pswd error.

I also spent almost to hours with EJ Customer support and could not get my login to fail or the TT login to work. I also checked with Apple Support to make sure I had no Safari or OS incompatibilities.  I believe the EJ new website was in service prior to 2/2023, so, I'm back to - if it worked on 2/4 but not on 2/15 what changed?  The only change was the TT update when starting the TT Premier  for MAC.

If you find something let me know.

BTW, I am using a MAC Book Air on 12.6.4, Safari on 16.3 and TT Premier for MAC for 2022 desktop with latest updates.

Is anyone having trouble importing a 1099 from your broker?

The workarounds have not been useful.  In response to an email from TT's Employee TurboTax Specialist, suggested I call TT after speaking with Edward Jones.  The EJ's tech support person did follow my sign-in to their system and noted no problems.  He did note that EJ has been getting a number of inquiries  from their clients that some of their information is not being accepted into TurboTax.  He said that TT's problem is with the  Consolidated 1099 Statements and that I should call TurboTax and submit a Support Ticket.  I did call the 800 number for support and the phone system doesn't give a allow for a live assistance.  So, there is no problem with passwords or or methods of sign-in.  The problem, according the the EJ Tech is with TurboTax not handling the consolidated reports (which is has done without issue in prior years).

How would trying to retrieve the consolidated statement cause the error that Edward Jones doesn't recognize the User ID or password?  In TT, I tried selecting only one document to download and still received the User ID or password problem notice.

Is anyone having trouble importing a 1099 from your broker?

Response to cathybarrows (New Member):  I personally do not have a problem with TTax's access to the EJ system via userID or passwords.  I don't have long or complicated user or password issues.  My issue is that TTax is looking at the accounts, it's not 'seeing' the consolidated 1099 information to be able for selection.  I will include the screenshots of what is displayed when logged in EJ's site as well as what TTax shows.

As was mentioned earlier, an EJ technical assistance rep did follow my ID, through the TTax application into their system, access the accounts and noted that the same was observed - that TTax didn't see the consolidated 1099 reports.

Is anyone having trouble importing a 1099 from your broker?

I was having the same Edward Jones login issue using Turbo Tax. After reading some of the workaround suggestions I went and used my wife's account and it all downloaded successfully she even has special characters in her password.   There is still an issue with Turbo Tax passing through the EJ credentials of my own account.

Is anyone having trouble importing a 1099 from your broker?

Had trouble importing my wifes 1099 from Edward Jones after I was successful at importing my own 1099.  Simple fix once I spent too much time reading the message boards. Not sure about any other broker, but TurboTax does not like a number in the USERID, at least not in the first position of the USERID. I changed the USERID on her Edward Jones account using no numbers or special characters (worst practice, TT!) and tried importing from TurboTax, and it worked! Now, I'm going back in to Edward Jones and changing back to a good USERID.

Is anyone having trouble importing a 1099 from your broker?

OMG....YES.  I've been on the phone with both Edward Jones and TurboTax.  Last TT was about an hour with 2 agents and a supervisor.  I received an answer I'm not real 'sure' about; so, now I will call back and see if I get the same answer.

My first issue was after downloading the 'final figures' into TT there were lots of "needs review' notices.  After contacting TT I was told to go into each 'sold fund' and confirm lots of info.  I'm at CDs but don't see a correct option to pick for 'what type of investment I sold'.  Not happy; but, not sure whose really responsible.  TurboTax, Edward Jones or ME!?

Is anyone having trouble importing a 1099 from your broker?

I didn't because the issue seems, to me, to be that a CD is not listed in the 'what type of investment did you sell' options.  The last answer was Stock (?), then, it was 'suggested' it 'could be' a Bond.  I don't know so I'll try to call back again...the best 2 out of 3 will win.

Is anyone having trouble importing a 1099 from your broker?

Not sure if you downloading info from Edward Jones; I have.  It goes where is supposed to go...HOWEVER, I have 'Needs Review' on many of them.  I had to into all 'sales' and confirm S/T or L/T; then Covered or NonCovered; How I received it; and, finally what type of investment it was.  That's my issue.  I was able to select most of our sales of funds, etc.; however, we had some CDs...that's not an option.  2 calls to TT and 1 to EJ gave me 2 options.  I will now call TT again and see what I here this time; 2 out of 3 wins!
