If i live/work in florida as stated on my w2 why will it not let me proceed without adding a employers state id number?

If you live and work in Florida, which does not have a state income tax, Box 15 should be completely blank. Additionally, Boxes 16 and 17 (state wages and state income tax) should also be blank if there is no state income tax to report

If TurboTax is prompting you for an entry in Box 15, you can try the following steps:

1. Ensure Boxes 15,16, 17 are blank: Make sure there are no spaces, dashes, or zeros.
2. If step 1 does not work  delete and manually reenter the W2.
   1. Open TurboTax and sign in to your account.
   2. Go to the W-2 section:
      • In TurboTax Online: Use the search feature in the upper right, type "W-2" (lower case, with or without the dash), and click the "Jump to" link in the search results.
      • In TurboTax Desktop: Navigate to the W-2 section directly.
   3. Delete the W-2:
      • On the W-2 summary screen, find the W-2 you want to delete and select the trash can icon or the "Delete" option next to it.
   4. Re-enter the W-2:
      • After deleting, you can re-enter your W-2 information by selecting "Add a W-2" and following the prompts to input the correct details.
