If I have 8 different state tax returns to file. I am getting a message that says I can only file 5? What do I do

The Online software can on prepare and file 5....Max.

The Desktop software can prepare many more (beyond what you need)....but Desktop is limited to e-filing 3 (at least in prior years 3 was the e-file limit), and any remaining states have to be printed and mail-filed.

Since you are limited in the number of state returns you can prepare using TT, do the hardest most complicated ones using TT.   Try preparing the other ones on the state's tax web sites.

You will need to switch to desktop version. If you have not paid, see here. If you have paid,  contact support and let them know you need the desktop to finish.
