SSA can be partially taxable when you have additional income, depending on the amount and types of total income received.

Who said you don't have to report SS or SSDI? You do not report ssi (Supplemental Security Income is not Social Security)
Enter a SSA-1099, SSA-1099-SM or RRB-1099 under
Federal
Wages and Income tab
Then scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
Social Security (SSA-1099. RRB-1099) - click the Start or Update button
If you ONLY get SSI or Social Security or Social Security Disability or a SSA-1099 or RRB-1099 for railroad retirement you do not have to file a return. And there is no benefit to itemizing deductions or claiming dependents.
Social Security shows up on 1040 line 6a and the taxable amount on 6b.
Up to 85% of Social Security becomes taxable when all your other income plus 1/2 your social security, reaches:
Married Filing Jointly: $32,000
Single or head of household: $25,000
Married Filing Separately: 0
