How do I go back and change my response?

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Unfortunately none of these suggestions worked for me. I had to click on tax tools and then clear and start over. This reset everything and allowed Turbo tax to give me the stimulus question again. This time I entered the correct amount so everything should be good to go.
This is of course really bad design on Turbotax's part. It should be easy to get back to any previous screen. Obviously it's not ok to knowingly submit incorrect information, and the only way to prevent doing this was to clear and start over. That's awful design.
That information is recorded on the "Recovery Rebate" worksheet.
You'll need to delete that worksheet so that the program "re-asks" the question about what you received.
Click back into your account and return
Click Tax Tools on the left side bar under upgrade
Click Tools from the drop-down
Click Delete a form on the "Tools Center" screen
Scroll down to Recovery Rebate Credit Worksheet and click Delete
Go back through the TurboTax interview and the question will be asked although it may not be asked immediately.
The credit is based on the amount you are eligible for and the amount you already received.
I followed your instructions but there is no Recovery Rebate Credit Worksheet
could it be in any of the following:
1040/1040SR Wks |
Form 1040 |
Schedule 1 |
Earned Income Worksheet |
Tax Payments Worksheet |
Schedule A |
Tax and Interest Deduction Worksheet |
Form 8801 |
Form 8863 |
Form 8995 |
Form 1040-V |
Please follow the steps below to change your response:
Please refer to the image below:
when I follow those steps I am not presented with the screen that you provided. Instead I see these two screens followed by a screen showing how much I owe and then it moves on to state taxes.first screen
second screen
To get to the stimulus questions in TurboTax at any time, you can search for stimulus or recovery rebate credit then hit ENTER and there should be a Jump to link
If you are trying to trigger it,
Click on Other Tax Situations at top
Click on Let's get started
Answer some questions then Continue
Then click on Let's keep going
Next screen is for the Third Stimulus, if you qualify
If you did not get prompted to enter your stimulus information, that means you either:
Hi,
As I mentioned in my initial question the jump to stimulus link does not link me to the stimulus question. Instead it links me to the first screen that I posted earlier with "Let's check your federal return and make sure it's good to go". From there it takes me to the second screen that I posted, then to how much I owe, and then it takes me to state taxes.
I was prompted to enter my stimulus information when I started filling out my tax information. However, I entered $0 because I forgot that I received a stimulus. I later found a document with the stimulus that I received, so I need to go back and change my answer from $0 to the amount that I received.
You just need to go through and re-enter all income, "walk me through everything" then at some point it will ask you if you received a stimulus pament.
Thanks for this reply. Can you give me a few more details?
When I click edit on every field in my income section I don't see see anything related to stimulus.
How do I initiate re-entering all income?
How do I find "walk me through everything"?
Do I need to delete everything in my income section and start over?
No you don't need to re enter anything. If it's not giving you the stimulus screen maybe you don't qualify for it. And you already got it anyway. Just check and see if 1040 line 30 is blank for the Recovery Rebate Credit . If it is blank you don't have to worry about it.
Before filing, You can preview the 1040 or print the whole return
Ok, so I followed the instructions in the video. One step was missing. In case someone is reading this and looking for the 1040, follow the instructions in the video and then look at the left hand side of the screen. There should be a button for "preview my 1040"
Ok, so I see my information but this is just a preview. I need to edit my previous response.
Now you said: "If it's not giving you the stimulus screen maybe you don't qualify for it."
I do qualify, I did receive a stimulus, I did get the stimulus screen, I did enter my stimulus information when prompted, then (several screens later) I realized the information I entered was incorrect, and now I can't figure out how to go back and correct this. Please help!
In TurboTax Online, you are prompted to input the third stimulus check information under Review down the left hand side of the screen. You can also access your stimulus check choices by following these steps:
If you have not received the third stimulus check, you will receive your payment in the form of a Recovery Rebate Credit on line 30 of your 2021 Federal tax return when you file.
TurboTax will compare your stimulus payment amount to the computations within TurboTax. The computations within TurboTax are based upon the information that you have entered into the tax software. If you are due an additional amount, it will be issued as a Recovery Rebate Credit (RRC) on line 30 of the 2021 1040 tax return.
No don't delete all your income that you entered.
At the top of the screen click on the "Federal Taxes"----then you will see "Other Tax Situations"
Click on that icon, then you go to bottom of page, click "Done With Other", then it will ask
you did you receive a 3rd stimulus this is where you can edit your response.

Then you must have entered too much income on the other return not to get the Stimulus questions.
