I'm mailing out prior years taxes and got them all finish. Do I need to include copies of w2, 1099s, 2095sa and my 1099-B? Not sure why I would have to send copies of my w2s and stuff when they have all that information already.
There are some 1099-Bs I can't get at all because the brokerage firm was taken over by Etrade and they are no longer accessible. Also missing a W2 as well from a previous employer that's not responding back. I plan on using form 4852 for that. I used my wage and income transcripts for all the information I am filing with these returns.
When I mail these out should I send them certified mail?
Also I have 1099-Es but only have 2021 and 2022 none for 17.18, or 2019. Do I need to send copies in or can I leave them out?

Include only your W-2 forms and any 1099’s where tax was withheld. Good idea to send with tracking.
Yes, if you have income transcripts that will be sufficient. The transcript has all the information that is in W-2 and other tax documents.
Send all the tax returns by certified mail so that you can track them for delivery.

Send transcripts with the returns? I have the 1099s that show income and taxes were withheld. I just don't have some 1099E for the student loan interest and some old 1099B aka consolidated 1099 but no taxes were withheld from the 1099Bs so I'm not going to send copies of those as my transcript shows it already.
I'm assuming paper returns are back logged and it's going to take forever to get these processed?
I'm filing jointly this year compared to last year and these are his returns never filed and it looks like he owes a total of 320.00 plus the penalties. I'm assume this is going to hold up our current tax refund. His 2020 return/refund will be more than enough to pay off the back taxes owed and penalties with 1200 left over.
please note that if you were due a refund for 2017, it has been forfeited because the return was not timely filed.
if you owe - you owe.
And I don't see anyone mention it but mail each year in a separate envelope so the IRS doesn't miss any. No it shouldn't affect this years refund.
