I’m filing federal free. When I enter my student loan interest, and daycare expenses it tells me I have to upgrade to get the $591 credit. I upgrade and no refund change?

I don’t mind paying the $40 to upgrade if it’s going to change my refund but if it’s not then why pay for the fee.....any idea

WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY?  I WANT THE FREE EDITION

The information that you can enter in Free Edition is pretty limited now.  Thanks to the new tax laws that began for 2018 returns, there are no more simple Form 1040EZ or 1040A's.  Everything goes on a Form 1040 that has three extra "schedules" with it, and if you need any of those schedules, you are not able to use the Free Edition.  Using the standard deduction instead of itemizing does NOT mean you will not need any of those schedules.

You actually get charged $80 for filing, you pay for the deluxe option and another fee for the filing of your federal, and if youre in the deluxe you have to pay another $40 for your state to be filed
