Did you have a number in column C? Or did you pay the full premiums on your own?
If you did not have a number in column C, then you may be able to remove the 1095-A and attempt to submit. The IRS may reject your return saying you must include form 8962. If so, then you will need to print and mail your return.
If you did have a number in column C, you will need to include form 8962 in your return. Since you actually cannot enter anything other than 0 for column B, you will need to print and mail your return. Prior to doing so, you can attempt to ignore the warnings for the 1095-A column B errors and see if you can transmit your return, but if it stops you, the only option would be to keep the form as it is supposed to be and then print and mail the return.
@marissadimiduk Can you clarify which tax tool your referring to? Thanks!
@MaryK4 Yes! It’s the Department of Health and Human Services tax tool that’s recommended when I click on the information for what to do if column B has $0.
The 1095-C does not need to be entered on your return at all.
No, you do not copy column A into Column B. I am not sure which link you are using, but you can use this link to get your SLCSP for column B.
@Vanessa A Thank you, but this is the tool I was talking about. It won’t let me past this section:
Include in your household only members to whom ALL of the following apply.
The person:
because I was eligible for a work-based plan but kept my marketplace plan due to uncertain job security for the year. It won’t allow me to set the number to 0 and continue on.
Because you were not eligible for any subsidy, $0 in column B is the correct amount. You can't use the DHS tool because there is no amount that is applicable to your situation. Moreover, any advance payment of the Premium Tax Credit is an excess payment of PTC.
@DavidD66 Ok… So how should I proceed if TurboTax doesn’t allow me to enter the form without a number above 0 in column B? Does this mean I’m not eligible to enter this form at all? If so that’s fine, I just don’t want to miss something important. Thank you for the clarification about the 0 being correct!

@Vanessa A I don’t have a number in column C, so I will try that. Thank you!
