I have 3 dependents and I only got paid for 2 of them for both stimulus checks, however TurboTax says I received the right amount. How do I fix this?

If one of the dependents was older than 16 at the end of 2020 that is why you did not receive stimulus for that dependent.   If all of them are under the age of 17, use the recovery rebate credit.

The stimulus check is an advance on a credit you can receive on your 2020 tax return.  If something went wrong or you did not get the stimulus check in 2020, you can get it when you file your 2020 return in early 2021

The Recovery Rebate Credit will be found in the Federal Review section,  If you are eligible it will end up on line 30 of your 2020 Form 1040.

I am having a similar issues, where maybe behind the scenes the software made a mistake ( it can happen as I am a sr software engineer) and says an individual is not eligible when in fact they are.

In my case, I never received the prompt for Recover Rebate Credit on the 'Federal Review' page.

There has to be a manual way to add this to the 1040 form bc of a software anomaly

@jaxonpatton If you already e-filed you need to wait to see if the return is accepted or rejected.  Right now it is in pending and you cannot change anything on it.

MY RETURN IS IN PENDING—what does that mean?

Did you e-file?  Did you click that big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”  If so, your return is now in “pending” on a server.  Do not try to change anything while your return is in pending.

The IRS will not be accepting/rejecting 2020 returns until Friday, February 12, 2021.  You need to watch your emails for the acceptance/rejection notice that may take until the end of the month to arrive in your inbox.  And watch your spam folder too.

When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax.  The first one will say that your return was submitted.  The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected.  If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.

A state return cannot be accepted until the federal return has been accepted.

@jaxonpatton

Let's start with the dependent ... look at the actual form 1040 ... which box is checked here ?  And how old is the dependent as of 12/31/2019?

How do I preview my TurboTax Online return before filing?

You can view your entire return or just your 1040 form before you e-file:

  1. Open or continue your return.
  2. Select Tax Tools in the left menu (if you don't see this, select the menu icon in the upper-left corner).
  3. With the Tax Tools menu open, you can then:
    • Preview your entire return: Select Print Center and then Print, Save, or Preview This Year's Return (you may be asked to register or pay first).
    • View only your 1040 form: Select Tools. Next, select View Tax Summary in the pop-up, then Preview my 1040 in the left menu.
