I entered the Turbotax Deluxe 2019 licence code and it was accepted. Why I can't just jump to the filing? Instead the system continues to request payment

I prepared my tax return using the website version of the Turbotax. Then I bought a disk and entered the licence number into the website version. Am I supposed to be able to file the return or I need to forget about it and start all over again with the disk version?

How in the world did you enter the License Code into the Online version?  There's no way.

Sorry you can't apply the Desktop CD/Download program purchase to the Online version.  They are separate prices and work different.

You need to install the program on your computer and move your online return to the Desktop program.  To continue in the desktop version see this…….

After you get the program installed the first thing to do before you open your tax return .tax file is to update the program and install any state programs you had. Then open your file. So you first might need to start a fake return to be able to download the state program (go to FILE - NEW).

Purchased TT online.  Used the disk in my PC, entered the license code and prepared my taxes.  Now, to file I am being prompted for TT payment of $45.  I know I need to pay 20.00 for state, but this has got me wondering why

Go though the FILE tab again.    Are you having the $20 state efile fee deducted from your federal refund?  There is an EXTRA $40 (45 in California) refund processing service charge.  Or maybe you added Max or something else.  So be careful what you click on, go slowly. There is one screen that can trip you up.

Or do you need to buy a second state PROGRAM download?  That is $40.  Oh, what version are you using?  Basic does not have a state program.  And some Deluxe you buy in the stores don't have a state program.  So you have to buy the state.
