There is no way that I can find to enter a QCD into my 1099-R form. "Help" says TT will ask if any part of the distribution was a QCD. Well, it DOES NOT ask that.
Then I tried to find where to enter my estimated taxes that I paid. Can't find that either.
What do I do?
I NEVER had such problems with TT Desktop for the past twenty or so years.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
After you enter your 1099-R, TurboTax will ask you follow-up questions. You will select that your distribution was transferred directly to a charity on the Do any of these situations apply to you? Screen.
If you've already entered your 1099-R, go back and delete the 1099-R that was a QCD and re-enter it. Also, check your birthdate under the My Info Section to ensure that your correct birthyear is entered since you must be 70 & 1/2 or older to make a Qualified Charitable Donation (QCD).
Refer to the TurboTax Help article Where do I enter my 1099-R? for navigation instructions.
The full amount of the distribution reported on your Form 1099-R will be on line 4a (IRA Distributions) of your Form 1040 or 1040-SR. The taxable amount reported on Line 4b will be the total distribution less the QCD amount and will have "QCD" entered next to it.
Refer to the TurboTax Help article What is a Qualified Charitable Distribution? for more information.
Estimated tax payments that you paid towards your 2025 federal or state taxes will be entered in the Deductions & Credits Section of TurboTax. Follow the instructions below for TurboTax Online:

The TurboTax interview does not use the term QCD. After you enter the information from your 1099-R click Continue. The next screen will ask "Do any of these situations apply to you?" Check the box that says "I transferred all or part of this money directly to charity." Several screens later it will ask how much was transferred to charity. After you enter the amount and click Continue, the next screen will tell you that the amount you entered is designated as a QCD. That's the only place that you will see the term QCD, after you have entered it.
SharonD007,
rjs,
Thanks to both of you. Not finding it was my fault. I was on the "Do any of these situations apply to you?" screen but I missed the question about transferring directly to a charity.
For the estimated taxes paid, I didn't scroll down far enough to find the estimated tax payments section
