You can drag it to the trash can icon on your desktop. If you want to uninstall the program use this link.

How do I remove the TurboTax shortcut from my PC desktop?

Yes, thanks, that is the obvious choice, but neither that nor right-click/delete works.  Any other thoughts?

How do I remove the TurboTax shortcut from my PC desktop?

You should not have to uninstall a program to remove its desktop icon. I don't know why it's not possible to delete it the normal way, but this worked for me:

 

1. Press Start, type cmd, right-click on Command Prompt and Run as administrator.

2. Enter these commands:

cd \users\public\desktop

dir [you should see the shortcut listed]

del "TurboTax 2020.lnk" [yes you need the quotation marks]

 

The icon should be gone. You can still start the program by pressings Start and typing turbotax.
