To install the TurboTax CD, start by putting the CD into your computer drive. It may take up to 4 minutes for the first screen to appear.

If installation doesn't start after 4 minutes, follow these steps:

1. Make sure to insert the TurboTax CD into the CD drive on your computer
2. Hold down the Windows+R keys to open the Run window
3. Select Browse, and then find the TurboTax CD on your CD/DVD/RW drive (usually Drive D)
4. Double-click the setup.exe file to begin the installation
5. When you get to the screen Your product is installed, now let's activate it, enter your license code in the License code box, and select Continue to complete installation
   • The license code is a 16-character combination of letters and numbers (XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) that can be found on your CD box insert, envelope, or packing skip, or in your Download confirmation email and/or order history. Need help finding it? Go here. (Note: The 2019 product has a 14-character code that looks like this: XXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX)

Tip: If you bought the CD but your computer lacks a CD drive, you can request the downloadable version. Keep in mind, you can't use both the CD and the download—it must be one or the other.
