"Hmm, looks like we hit a slight snag in this section" Error

I’m completely done with all of my information and just need to review my final info but I keep getting the “Hmm, looks like we hit a slight snag in this section” error. I have already cleared all my browser data and it is still giving me the error message and will not let me file. What do I do?

This happens from time to time.

See the TurboTax Help article Why am I stuck in a loop in the File section of my return?.  Hopefully this will provide a fix for your issue.

I'm having the same problem...

I could not find any helpful information either out there on the internet or chatting with assistants.

I tried:

- chatting with 4 assistants,
- using 3 different browsers (Google Chrome, Edge, and Safari),
- I cleaned caches and cookies,
- I updated the browsers,
- I navigated incognito
- I removed my firewall,
- I used different devices,
- I log off and log back,
- I restart my computer.

I tried these and did not fix the problem.

I also tried deleting one form and  filling it out again. It did not work... It looks like we hit a slight snag in this section. ☹️

I've seen people complaining about this error since 2021.

Same problem myself. No errors are reported on Federal or State. I get the unhelpful snag error after confirming payment and address ($0 as it's included w/ my Quickbooks subscription). I tried all of the usual suspects and now I sit on eternal hold. I'm not holding my breath but I hope they find a solution.

The phone rep suggested that I "go to another location" and try again 🙄. So I tethered from phone and tried again, no luck. I tried a VPN, no luck. Every time I've called their suggested solution is to clear the cache or try again. This is a garbage app.

Sounds like your computer may be experiencing a loop.  Let's clear your cookies and history then reboot.

Cookies are small files that temporarily store data on your computer. We use them to personalize your experience so you see information you already entered and not items that are irrelevant or repetitive.

On rare occasions, they may make your browser think you already did something that you still need to do. To fix that, you'll need to delete (clear) the cookies from your browser.

Each browser has a slightly different method for deleting cookies. Choose the browser you're using:

No. I have now tried:

  • 3 different computers (2 Mac, 1 Windows
  • 7 different browers
  • Cleared cache
  • Cleared cookies
  • Logged out & back in
  • Private/Incognito browsing
  • Wifi & 5G
  • VPN
  • "Waited..."
  • "Tried again..."

At what point does somebody at Turbotax actually do something instead of wasting our time?

Reach out to @TeamTurboTax on Twitter/X. My particular issues that there was a security lock on my account. It only took 4 days, 4 calls totaling 3+ hours, and many hours of troubleshooting 😂. They escalated it and it was resolved with a click a few hours later.

@CatinaT1 The error was coming up on the order page when attempting to file my taxes. They initially thought it was a billing address problem somewhere.

I have seen some issues with this happening when you are trying to make a payment. Disabling your main internet browsers pop up blocker before getting to the payment page has worked.
