Help! How do I get my originally filed 2022 tax document?

My federal return was accepted, however, the amount owing was shown at $343.00.  When I e-filed my 2022 tax, my state return got rejected because 8915-F wasn't ready in Hawaii until March 17, 2023.  Now when I open my file, it's not the original file. Now it shows I'm supposed to get a refund.  Not sure on why the number changed after I went back in to update my state return.  Please help!  How do I get back what was filed originally with the IRS?

Did you file your federal return twice?  Or did you file an amended federal and state return?  If you amended the federal return without saving the file, then there is no get back to that return.  The original return was changed.

I suggest you make sure that the federal returns have both been processed through the system before doing any thing else with the federal.

You can file the state return separate from the federal.  If that return was rejected, did you refile and it is now accepted?

Okay, the only question here is whether you can get back to your original return?  No, if you filed an amended return or filed twice.  You can see what the IRS has on your 2022 account by requesting an account transcript and a return transcript.  Get Your Tax Record

No I didn't file my federal return twice.  I am trying to e-file my state return, however, I noticed federal return numbers were different from original.  I also did not file an amended return.  I was trying to file state return.

If using TurboTax Online, you can print a copy of the return that was filed by following these steps:

1. Click Tax Tools on the left-hand side of the screen
2. Click Tools
3. Click Print Center
4. Print copy of the return

Review to see if the entries match what you entered.  If you are seeing a discrepancy, respond to this thread.

I suggest you get a transcript of your return that was filed with the IRS and compare that to the return you see in TurboTax to see what is different. If you find the copy filed is correct, then you can adjust your return in TurboTax to make it agree with that copy before you file your state tax return. Also, you can print out your return showing in TurboTax and make sure it reflects the correct tax information that should be on it. If so, it is probably correct and you can file your state return before the due date if you cannot get your transcript by then. If you find the return that you filed is wrong, you can prepare an amended return in TurboTax to correct it.

It is possible there was an update to your program that resulted in a different calculation that changed your tax after you filed your return. If so, the IRS may change the tax return you filed. In that case, the IRS would notify you of the changes they made and you may not have to do anything further with the return your filed.
