This fixed it. Thanks!
That’s exactly how I fixed it!
However, I realize that it was duplicated last year (2023) and I didn’t catch it. So I’m trying to do an amendment, but I can’t find the duplicate amount listed anywhere to remove it. It was listed on last year’s return on schedule 1 8z as RTAA Payments. We did not receive any retraining benefits.
On your amended return you can use the same line to remove the income that should not have been duplicated. Use the instructions below for your amended 2023 tax return to remove the income.
Other Miscellaneous Income:
this is a know bug..issue error that I didn’t catch till after filing. amended return by deleting 1099-G and entering manually and it worked to delete RTAA. I called help line to get help. Yea, known issue, yes does that show up when you run verification check and yes shows up when entering picture of 1099G. This is VERY frustrating and irresponsible of Turbo Tax to allow the know error to continue. This affects both Federal and state taxes!
What a joke! It's the difference between a $1091 refund and a $536 bill at the federal level. I need to go back and review last year's return (I had turbotax do it LY).
The RTAA information wasn't shown until I did my state taxes. When I did federal it was listed only as "Other Income from Schedule 1". And like everyone else on this board, I went back to that section and there was nothing there. It takes deleting and then entering it by hand to get it corrected.
